Post by: Suzie_rose on July 23, 2009, 03:50:05 AM
Good evening to all

Would like some advice if possible

Can anyone provide any info on fitting sidecar to left hand side of S4 Monster??

My wife wants one to make the Monster more family friendly for the baby we have coming so I'd like to hear too.  Yeah, Monster, sidecar.... it doesn't have to make sense.

I know it's a bit of a pain since most sidecars are designed to fit on a double cradle type frame with downtubes and the Monster has a perimeter style frame.  I remember seeing a pic of one once (maybe on TOB) but it was full custom.

Also, I know it's usually good to reduce the trail on the fork for better handling with the sidecar.  Any way to mod the stock fork instead of going to one of the leading link types?  I know that the leading link type forks also have more lateral rigidity.  Would the stock fork be rigid enough?  I'm figuring upside down forks have to be at least a little better than most standard telescopics.

Your forks will be fine, just get some custom triples to adjust the trail to your liking. I've seen people go with as little as 1/2" trail, but I don't have any experience with less than about 2".

Thanks.  Custom triples are pricey but not as pricey as new forks.  Any advice on how to hang the car?  Not much frame to play with.

Part of me keeps thinking I should just trade in and get a scooter with a sidecar.  They're way cool and Portland has lots of scooter shops.

There was an article about some guy that had one put on his Harley.   I think the guy could be persuaded to put one on yer Duc also.

Oh yeah, here it is.

Seriously, if you have access to some machine shop tools, and a welder, there is literally nothing you can't do.

Holy shit!  That is the craziest thing I have ever seen!  Talk about shoe string shade tree fabrication work...  I can't belive the dude paid $4k for that thing.
