Title: Speedometer Inoperative
Post by: BPT on July 23, 2009, 05:42:36 PM
My speedometer has quit on my 04 S4R.  Odometer also.  Any one else had this issue?  I am not a happy camper looking at a possible $800 for a instrument cluster.  How prevalent is this problem?  The sending unit has been checked, and the marbles are rolling around in the speedo.

You would probably have better luck posting up in tech.

If the rest of the instrument cluster is working more than likely the problem is the wiring from the speed sensor or the sensor itself.

my first inclination is a speedo cable (and not of the banana hammock variety).

Develop a feeling for the speed and sell the bike with 10.000 less next year  [evil]

It is defintely in the speedometer.  You can hear the "marbles" rolling around in it while it tries to move.  Also verified by my dealer.
