I liked it better when the bikes could only turn 90 degrees.

i like how the front and back wheels are both hubless designs and the clip ons are the hub of the front wheel and teh rearsets are the hub of the rear wheel, i want to see someone actually build something like that... honestly it looks tough but not out of the range of possibility.

Hey so check it out, Ducati gets some nice screen time in Tron Legacy. What's really cool is if you paid close attention, you probably noticed that there's a pretty neat cameo at the start of the trailer.

Fun fact (well, for me) about the new flick:

At some point in the movie there is a scene involving an old sit-down "Discs of Tron" video game. Said game belongs to a friend of mine, who is an avid coin-op game collector. I guess there aren't many of these particular units left, and somehow the studio got hold of him and he loaned them the game. Not sure if he was paid much of anything, but he got to travel to see a bunch of the filming and got a shitpile of Tron goodies.

Whats your friend name? Yeah the sit down is extremely rare. I knew someone who had one as well.
I use to collect many of the coin ops. I had a Tron at one point. My friend has a few of the Stand Up DoT. I currently only have a Star Wars XY Standup.

The Tron games came after the movie.

But in the movie, isn't the world within a game?

Oh yeah, sure, if I remember correctly.  But then when you say, "...but a game based on a movie based on a game?" is using "game" in two different ways.  The game based on a movie is a real game based on a real movie.  The movie based on a game is a real movie based on a fictional game.  In other words, originally it was a story element of a script.  Tron was not a movie based on a game the way Super Mario Bros was a movie based on a game.

No, it's just a general computer 'realm' - the lightcycle races were concepted as how a game being played would be rendered in that world. The world was a sort of a network - the whole concept was pretty far forward looking

I haven't watch the movie in years, but weren't the bikes part of a game within the whole "network"? Anyway, my point is that if they put a decent amount of time and effort, they can make a kick ass game.

A lot of people didn't like Tron 2.0 but I own it and liked it a lot. It was  really fun 1st person take on the movie genre.

In fact when I got it, I remember being terribly addicted to playing it! Most reviews gave it at least 8/10 for quality, but the vast majority of the critics loved the look and feel of the game more than the gaming goals.

Somewhere I have a red Lightcycle toy that has one of those geared ripcords that you feed in and yank to spool up the back tire, then set it down and watch it rocket off toward whatever breakable item is in the area.

Damn!  Every time I see something new about this movie, it looks more awesome!  I'm just old and geeky enough to have been blown away by the first movie.  Now that I've got a Duc (may have to sell the GT for an SC just to ride to the opening  [evil]) and they're doing a sequel with a Duc, even more awesome [thumbsup].  And what's-her-name with the bob?   [bow_down]..OK, I'll stop panting now  ;D
