it'll almost be 30 years by the time it's released.
I really think that if they do it right it will be awesome. I like that the trailer shows Jeff Bridges (Flynn) is involved. [thumbsup]

yup...two years more than it took lucas to do the entire star wars story
Can't wait!
As much as I like Sci-Fi fantasy and all, I think I'd get the urge to start gunning people down at Comi-con.
Tron bike kind of cool.
Overly exuberant fans are really annoying.
when is this dang move coming out?

I liked it better when the bikes could only turn 90 degrees.
Let's just hope it's not directed by the Wachowski brothers.
Or Lucas. What the hell happened to that guy? Seriously. [puke]
i like how the front and back wheels are both hubless designs and the clip ons are the hub of the front wheel and teh rearsets are the hub of the rear wheel, i want to see someone actually build something like that... honestly it looks tough but not out of the range of possibility.
You mean a little something like this?

"Unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the newest Sbarro motorcycle concept looks like ready for the Bonneville Salt Flats, but taking a better look at that riding position, I don't believe that crashing would be an option for the rider. Not that it would for any rider in generally, but a Sbarro rider's members are exposed, leaving the machine's entire weight to fall on them if, unfortunately, this crashes.
Thanks goodness, the silhouette you see in the pictures is only a mannequin, but one that is precisely squeezed in so that it would become one with the bike. So where there would normally be the wheels hubs now “bolt in†the courageous rider's hands and the visor stands as the screen."

Thanks for the clip, looking forward to the movie!

What a waste.
I really like the Tron bike, also reminds me of the Icare concept bike.

I'd pick either one up in a heartbeat (price dependent obviously, they WONT be cheap)
Though what would ultimately make these bikes less awesome would be if Tron guy were riding them:

Why doesn't he every write anything about his wife and family?
he's banging ladies left and right. No time for a wife and family. I'm oddly aroused right now.
Sadly though, when he offered to take the ladies for a ride on his Light Cycle, they were saddened to learn that they would have to ride on the handle bars...

They hae that duc shot Dave posted and some footage of the bike in motion. Mercifully, the folly artists used a duc noise... no screaming i4 wher it should not be.
And the geek boner continues.
This one's got Olivia Wylde in a skin tight get up... that's legit, not just geek boner stuff ;D
What's really cool is if you paid close attention, you probably noticed that there's a pretty neat cameo at the start of the trailer.

Oooohh, now I gotta go back and look.
Do you mean Bruce Boxleitner?
Yeah, they brought back the original TRON himself. That's pretty cool and easy to overlook if you don't remember the original film very clearly.
Olivia Wilde makes me feel funny ;D
She looks Hawt in that getup

She looks hot dressed in a fat suit.
Yeah, she's just hot.
Fun fact (well, for me) about the new flick:
At some point in the movie there is a scene involving an old sit-down "Discs of Tron" video game. Said game belongs to a friend of mine, who is an avid coin-op game collector. I guess there aren't many of these particular units left, and somehow the studio got hold of him and he loaned them the game. Not sure if he was paid much of anything, but he got to travel to see a bunch of the filming and got a shitpile of Tron goodies.

Whats your friend name? Yeah the sit down is extremely rare. I knew someone who had one as well.
I use to collect many of the coin ops. I had a Tron at one point. My friend has a few of the Stand Up DoT. I currently only have a Star Wars XY Standup.
I just hope they come out with a good name to accompany the movie. Generally games based on movies suck, but a game based on a movie based on a game?

Actually, I think it would be: a movie based on a movie that resulted in a game which later resulted in another game. [cheeky]
But in the movie, isn't the world within a game?
Quote from: duccarlos on March 10, 2010, 11:11:18 AM
But in the movie, isn't the world within a game?
Oh yeah, sure, if I remember correctly. But then when you say, "...but a game based on a movie based on a game?" is using "game" in two different ways. The game based on a movie is a real game based on a real movie. The movie based on a game is a real movie based on a fictional game. In other words, originally it was a story element of a script. Tron was not a movie based on a game the way Super Mario Bros was a movie based on a game.
Quote from: duccarlos on March 10, 2010, 11:11:18 AM
But in the movie, isn't the world within a game?
No, it's just a general computer 'realm' - the lightcycle races were concepted as how a game being played would be rendered in that world. The world was a sort of a network - the whole concept was pretty far forward looking
I haven't watch the movie in years, but weren't the bikes part of a game within the whole "network"? Anyway, my point is that if they put a decent amount of time and effort, they can make a kick ass game.
A lot of people didn't like Tron 2.0 but I own it and liked it a lot. It was really fun 1st person take on the movie genre.
In fact when I got it, I remember being terribly addicted to playing it! Most reviews gave it at least 8/10 for quality, but the vast majority of the critics loved the look and feel of the game more than the gaming goals.
Here are some shots from the game:

Somewhere I have a red Lightcycle toy that has one of those geared ripcords that you feed in and yank to spool up the back tire, then set it down and watch it rocket off toward whatever breakable item is in the area.
