Title: Re: Tron 2 - Motor-light-cycle awesomeness Post by: hillbillypolack on August 08, 2009, 03:53:05 AM You mean a little something like this?
(http://orlandosentinel.image2.trb.com/orlnews/media/photo/2008-11/43336304.jpg) (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7gYNb3GSh4M/SPJ6odS-dlI/AAAAAAAAG6s/i3TRCWKH8M8/s400/sbarro-motorcycle-co_460x0w.jpg) "Unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the newest Sbarro motorcycle concept looks like ready for the Bonneville Salt Flats, but taking a better look at that riding position, I don’t believe that crashing would be an option for the rider. Not that it would for any rider in generally, but a Sbarro rider’s members are exposed, leaving the machine’s entire weight to fall on them if, unfortunately, this crashes. Thanks goodness, the silhouette you see in the pictures is only a mannequin, but one that is precisely squeezed in so that it would become one with the bike. So where there would normally be the wheels hubs now “bolt in” the courageous rider’s hands and the visor stands as the screen." Fun fact (well, for me) about the new flick: At some point in the movie there is a scene involving an old sit-down "Discs of Tron" video game. Said game belongs to a friend of mine, who is an avid coin-op game collector. I guess there aren't many of these particular units left, and somehow the studio got hold of him and he loaned them the game. Not sure if he was paid much of anything, but he got to travel to see a bunch of the filming and got a shitpile of Tron goodies. Title: Re: Tron 2 - Motor-light-cycle awesomeness Post by: NorDog on March 10, 2010, 11:17:36 AM But in the movie, isn't the world within a game? Oh yeah, sure, if I remember correctly. But then when you say, "...but a game based on a movie based on a game?" is using "game" in two different ways. The game based on a movie is a real game based on a real movie. The movie based on a game is a real movie based on a fictional game. In other words, originally it was a story element of a script. Tron was not a movie based on a game the way Super Mario Bros was a movie based on a game. Title: Re: Tron 2 - Motor-light-cycle awesomeness Post by: Slide Panda on March 10, 2010, 11:36:55 AM But in the movie, isn't the world within a game? No, it's just a general computer 'realm' - the lightcycle races were concepted as how a game being played would be rendered in that world. The world was a sort of a network - the whole concept was pretty far forward lookingTitle: Re: Tron 2 - Motor-light-cycle awesomeness Post by: duccarlos on March 10, 2010, 11:40:42 AM I haven't watch the movie in years, but weren't the bikes part of a game within the whole "network"? Anyway, my point is that if they put a decent amount of time and effort, they can make a kick ass game.

(http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/misc-games/6040-1.jpg) In fact when I got it, I remember being terribly addicted to playing it! Most reviews gave it at least 8/10 for quality, but the vast majority of the critics loved the look and feel of the game more than the gaming goals.
