I don't get it?
I have locked my own topics because several people used to turn everything into a political debate. I remove a thread about a 911 turbo a few weeks ago because apparently I came across something top secret and shouldn't have talked about it.
Because you've embarrassed yourself?
Mmmmkay
I guess my thinking is that even crappy threads sometimes contain useful information.
Some people actually do use the search function ;)
I delete most of my threads as sson as the drop off pg 1. Or sooner if people show no interest.
I figure they have been looked at, long enough. ;)
But what about those of us that know how to use the search function?!?!?
Some of us actually use it!
But if you delete things, then . . . well that's like burning books i guess [laugh]

Well, most of what I post is useless info any way. ;)
[laugh]
Some people don't like it if the topic turns nasty or goes in a way they don't like, or for a million reasons.
I just try to remind people once you post it, it belongs to the ages of the internet, and the ages don't wash their hands when they pee.
that they do not
You're about to delete this thread, arent you?
;D
I joined in a discussion about (ready?), helmets, and people started taking my comments about cheap Chinese helmets real personal, and started to get pretty insulting and derogatory, so I just deleted all my posts in the discussion, because it wasn't the big deal some were making it out to be.
I've deleted threads that were derbys, or if they devolved into less than useful discussions that had nothing to do with the original thread. Most of the useful threads of good DIY and technical information stay intact, so I've never really noticed any major effect from thread deletions other than my post count will sometimes go down.

well now that you mention it...
Agree with Kop...if they fall back a few pages...get rid of em. I just deleted about 20 threads earlier today. Like Kop...useless stuff.
thats a lot of work. the forum should have a code that deletes NMC threads automatically after a certain period of time...

Whether it should or not...
it doesn't.
Thread deletion has to be done manually.

Nonsense-how are we going to go back and find when people said something stupid, did something stupid, or decided to contradict themselves in the idiot post of the day? We won't be able to point out that stupidity.
IZ deletes his because he lives in constant fear someone might count his nail incidents and tell him how much he's spent in tires, and why he could retire by now if he never drove anywhere.
