Title: Rizoma Indicators Installed
Post by: CairnsDuc on July 25, 2009, 02:08:38 PM
G'day All
I finally got around to replacing the OEM Ducati droopy Indicators on my S2R 800, Since I did the Tail chop, the Rear indicators have almost looked silly, big drooping indicators that constantly lose lenses and blow bulbs, and just looked so out of place on the back of the bike.

So I kept an eye out for some really good quality LED Indicators, and found the Rizoma Zero 11 Indicators, ordered 4 of them, within a week I had them. Drilled some new holes in the brackets on the rear of the bike, mounted them up, wired and away they went, super bright and they look very impressive. Here's a picture of the Rear (The bike  [thumbsup] not my rear  [puke])

Now the Front was a little bit more of an adventure, as the Indicator needed to be moved out from behind the fairing, now I looked at the extender stalks, but I hated the look of them, they looked a little silly to me.

So I modified the OEM mounts, I first chopped the rubber lug off the mount that held the OEM Oval shaped indicator assembly, This left left the 2 holes/tubes in the mount, 1 big enough for the Rizoma to screw into, but with blocked access to run the wire as the bolt to hold the mount uses the other end of this hole.
and the the smaller tube/hole more than big enough to run the wire but no access to run the wire.

So, after about 5 mins of thinking I got a tiny little drill bit (but very long) I cut a slot between the 2 tubes deep inside the mount, so I could mount the indicator in the Larger tube, but then run the wire through the smaller tube.
And this is the result:

and

Took about an hour and a half to set them up and wire in, didn't need the resistors. they flash at the normal rate. overall very happy with the result.  [moto]
And seeing that was the final Mod for the bike, I have submitted it to the Flounders for BOMB page. Time for a  [drink]

Yep, you can quote me on that, I am one very rare Monster Owner, that is "Done"
I have installed all the Mods, upgrade parts and Painted bits I ever wanted to put on.  [thumbsup]

The only time I may upgrade is if the current part wears out, I'll look at a upgrade part, apart from that if no better performance or quality is offered.
A new version of the same part will go back on.

Thanks Cairns Duc,
I was wondering what they would look like, and agreed are bigger than I expected.
No resistor, sounds good to me. Standard flasher unit?
Cheers.
Madalf.

Yep, I think in the 07 S2R the blinker circuit, it's part of the ECU(?)
I could be wrong, but they blink fine.

Looks good with those indicators on there, but I agree that you might not be quite done yet.  ;)

I have been wanting to do the same with my Sport1000, but it still needs some cleaning up peformed...

I always know that other Ducati owners will find things they would change and Mod, but for me, everything (and more) I have wanted to do, has been done.
I have already received some suggestions for other parts to change, but the bike is exactly where I want it to be. And I couldn't be happier  ;D

i had the older style zero's on my bike, but some places sell these without load boxes and the led's burn out  :P

decided to replace them with the track 77s. never would of thought of your adaption but like what you did. i drilled a new hole instead. took a few days and spray painted (one coat a day x4 plus a coat of clear) the headlight holder black. the carbons have been unavailable forever so while this isn't perfect, it turned out OK

it's dark outside so hopefully the pic isn't too bad

they are plenty bright. the kit came with resistors but i have low skills so i didn't want to bother with them and the faster rate does not bother me.
