The old sink died.
So...what do you do when that happens?.....
Ya change everything [laugh]
We ordered a new sink and countertops this morning, so today.... the demo began. As soon as the sink comes in, the countertop guys will stop by to make templates.
We're painting the cabinets and replacing the dated hardware to better match the new tops.
Work'n with the wife has been fun [thumbsup]

It ain't demolition until your hammer needs at least two hands to operate.

So that's what your house looks like from the inside. I've only seen it with a flashlight through the window.
What'd you need the magnet for?
That actually looks kinda cool with just wood. Ever considered a plain wood top?

Lookin' good. I wonder if a scrap of the new stuff about a foot by a foot would be good for a surface plate for sanding valve shims?
Suspicious looking plant to the left of the sink. ;D

Hahahaha! Same thing happened when I relandscaped the front yard at my old place. There were a lot of rocks that I needed to get rid of. I think the trash can weighed about 300-350lbs...

I asked her about prepping the cabinet surfaces prior to painting them. She says that if we primer everything, we don't have to prep anything by sanding. sooooo a few of the door surfaces were not sanded. I test painted two of the doors, and after having followed all the primer and paint directions..... the paint and primer pealed right off any surface that was not sanded >:(
so..... I took those two test doors and sanded all the paint/primer/old clear/old stain off, and re-stained them with an ebony colored stain then covered that with a semi gloss clear. Michelle likes the look, so now.... we be sanding everything down to bare wood.
the f'n dust is everywhere [laugh]

My neighbor let me borrow his saw horsies, so tomorrow, I'll take the remaining doors outside and chemical strip them.
Thinking this was going to be a simple prime and paint thing, we left most of the kitchen stuff in the cabinets and just took the doors off.....MISTAKE.
and... Frank (or newest kitty), keeps tearing down the plastic [laugh]

yup.... the tile sat on a concrete base than had to be about an inch thick :o
I still have the big chunks in the bed of the truck.
FYI.... the 3m brand sandpaper sucks. The Norton brand paper is waaaaaaay better. It last longer with less build-up.

I thought about that. but I lack certain tools and skills. and we are try'n to do this as cheep as possible. the countertops and sink (with hardware) has us right a 3 grand. me not being employed is not helping.
and one more lil hiccup...my Ryobi sander broke both of it's lil wire clips that hold the sandpaper in place (it's about 7 years old). you can only order them online....at 96 cents a piece..... plus 8 bucks shipping WTF?

But you are employed. You might not have a formal employer but you're creating value, which is what employment is all about. Be different if you were just couchin' it.
