Title: HP question (re: an S2R 1k stock with full Arrow pipe vs tuned ECU)
Post by: Vin on July 26, 2009, 08:07:46 AM
Need some info please-

I am running a full Arrow TI system on a 2007 S2R 1k. Stock airbox and ECU. What is the HP gain as is with out any other mods and what could it be?

I have been looking at ECU options as I want to get the max out of the system and also as its running lean want to eliminat the popping and surging in low rpms.

I had a ducati dealer instal the fat duc to richen the mix and eliminate the popping and surge - and his opinion was that it didnt do enough to warrent the $$.

He is a good guy and well known on the board so my feeling isnt that i am being upsold an ECU.

Latley I have ben obsessed with finding a new ECU other than the DP. Microtec was brought to my attention and struggled to get any data on them. Finaly found a US dealer in GA ducshop. Turns out that they have been the brains behind the Nemesis ECUs etc. What I am after is a stock map for my bike with current set up and a 100 twekable ecu. Sounds like the Microtec could be a solution. Money is just about 1k but then need it tuned. The $$ I can justafy but I am still in need of the raw data....

What I am after is what the HP gain will be (ball park). I have read that with the full system and nothing else the HP gain is anywhere from 2-5 HP and with the right tuning / open air box could be 10- 12.

can anybody confirm?

Thanks in advanced!!!

V.

I ran full Arrows on my S2R1K & I dyon'd with stock ECU as well as DP...... power diff was only 1 HP..... 83 at the wheel stock, 84.5 with the DP.  The big difference IMHO is the torque & the rideability.  Mine did about 65 ft/lbs. @ 5,250 RPM & was very strong below that as well.  As for the rideability, throttle modulation was much better & the bike could be ridden slowly, like in a parking lot @ 2,000 RPM & it was smooth & didn't lurch or stutter like it did stock.

So to answer your question, I don't think you'll make big power gains but it will sure feel like you did & be much nicer on the street.

Mark at the Ducshop is top notch.

He can stir you in the right direction although it may cost you some $$$.

He is very busy .

Usually runs about 40 bikes waiting to be worked on.

He was a Ducati racer and supports 2 bikes that are leading their class in the WERA.

Mark mainly builds Super bike Ducati engines for racing. But he can tell you what you need to get the max HP, etc. for your $$$.

Checkout his website, ducshop.com
