Title: Southern Ohio Roads plus Indian made items
Post by: DoubleEagle on July 27, 2009, 04:53:07 PM
Yesterday I went for a 6 hour ride through the " hills " of South Eastern , Ohio.

The weather was very nice for spirited corner carving and straightaway strafing.

Lots of Scud clouds and Temps in the upper 70s with 10-20 mph breeze.

Just put 700 miles on the monster this past weekend.  Rode through parts of illinois, Iowa, wisconsin and minnesota.  These pics look like they could have been taken any number of places along my route.  Good times!! Thanks for the pics and keep on floggin'. [moto] [thumbsup]

I never tire of these roads. They are generally lightly traveled especally during the week, and not much you no what cars on them so it's flyin' low all the time !

MMMMmm. Nice. [thumbsup]

I don't know exactly what I expected from Ohio the last time I was up that way, but I was pleasantly surprised at what a beautiful area it was.  Fall up around Cincinnati. Your area is even nicer.

Once you get away from the Northern part of the state and the Western part and any where around the larger cities the South  Eastern part it's all woods , hills, and lots and lots of curves.

I probably saw 15 cars on the road  in 6 hours and well over 100 Bikes.

I think I'd like the weather in the Winter time but I'd go stark raving mad the rest of the time in So. Fla.

We had the 2nd coolest July on record here in Central and South Central , Ohio.

Any Temp. above 80 and I'm boiling. Hi 60s is my favorite riding Temp.

Lived in Jupiter.  There's a great road just down from Abacoa.  Has 3 round-abouts on it!!  Totally get your lean on!!  [cheeky]

As for the pics..   [puke]

I can see the humidity in the air..not to mention all the allergins!!

5 feet off that road, the mosquitos are waitin' for ya.

Midwest..   [puke]

The road signs though..  [thumbsup]

BTW..I hope you picked up that Pepsi bottle.  Drive up to MI for .10 deposit!!  [cheeky]

Those roads look almost exactly like the stuff I used to ride (bicycle) in Southern Illinois, though I have more of an appreciation for a good squiggly line sign now :)

Beautiful stuff, Dolph.

Everytime I get on those roads it's like Disneyland or Disneyworld.

Yes it is beautiful. I love it most of the year.

Picture it in reds, yellows and oranges of Fall.

Very funny. Sad but true, I've practiced some tight left handers around those.

LOL IZ! You have been in Texas for one of the hottest summer on record, I would trade the humidity (lived in FL too, know what it is like to live in humidity) and the allergens for a day below 95F.

On the bright side, the 200 miles I put on this weekend in the hills were a lot of fun, even if I was racing to get home before it broke the century mark.

From those pics, it looks like lots of sweepers.  You probably spend a lot of time close to or well above triple digits.   [evil]

Yeah right, like the "R" could actually reach those speeds

I know exactly what you mean.  Southern Missouri is absolutely breath taking every fall, plus there are a few good hills that give you a really really good view of the contryside at the same time.

Yea, although  a lot of those sweepers end in double swich backs or 80 degree corners.

Still can take 80 degree  corners pretty fast 65 mph or more.

There's a place I call the " Top of the World ."

On a clear, low humidity day , you can see at least 50 miles and all that I ride in.

But that view only makes up about 70 degrees of my sphere of where I can ride.

Think about it ablaze come Fall !   Breath taking.

Nice pics.

What route is this?

A few friends and I are riding to R26 (Marietta, OH) and R555 (Zanesville, OH) this coming Saturday again.   Lots of curves/corners and fun route with the exception of the dreaded gravels.  We've been going there a lot lately and highly recommend it  ;)

I think it's Rt. 76 from Rt. 13 going towards Burr Oak State Park and McConnelsville where the "Top of the World " pic was taken .

Other Routes are 278, 56, 664, 595, 216, 312 and 93. Not in the order of the ride.

Thanks for the info. on your ride routes. I'll have to get over that way sometime.

D-ROC is planning a group ride from Akron down towards you guys on Saturday. It'd be a hell of an early morning to ride up for pancakes, but I'm sure you'd be welcomed. I don't know WHERE they are planning on riding exactly, the email just said SE Ohio.

Nice pics and route, Dolph.

Looks very much like most of my 25mi commute, tho, I can only claim no traffic on about half.

We certainly favor similar weather.

Joy riding is nice but it's really great to have somepace fun to go, and get there on roads like that.
(work doesn't qualify!)

Glad you enjoyed the pics seevtsaab.

It's been a Godsend that this July has been the second coolest on record here.

I have some ailment that makes me very heat intolerant to the point of heat illness once my body overheats and that can happen in as little as 10 seconds. Once I break a sweat I'm in trouble.

That's the nice thing about the roads i ride , I can usually ride almost none stop except for a 5 minute break in the shade for a drink and a 5 minute stop for gas in a little town.

Dolph      :)

You're right IZ, there is Humidity , Allergens ,and Mosquitoes .

But one thing it's not is over 100 degrees day after day and that's a blessing for me.

The Mosquitoes usually are only a nuisance at dusk or at night or in the woods and I'm not there.

Generally there is not much liter in this part of the State.
