Title: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: tigre on July 27, 2009, 05:50:36 PM ...I see your 1100cc motorcycle, and raise you 100cc.
I just bought an 1198s to throw away in turn 9 at Sears next year. [moto] Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: somegirl on July 27, 2009, 06:15:07 PM Oooh, you can't just leave us hanging like that. Details? Pictures?

Nice! Now, can I borrow your chain adjuster tool? ;D Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: tigre on July 27, 2009, 07:41:33 PM Should be 10 pounds lighter or more than my 749R. Should be about 30HP more at the rear wheel.

So, the throttle goes to 11? </spinal tap> And has TC, no? Is it track-prepped already, or can you take a bunch of street stuff off and make it lighter? And half your paint job is done already! ;) Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: tigre on July 27, 2009, 08:00:38 PM Like the Spinal Tap shout-out.
Yes -- it has TC. I'm not sure yet whether I'll keep it or bail on it. I'll play with it in the fall and see if I think I like it. It is not track-prepped. I assume the weight-difference will be about 10 pounds after track-prep. I'll try to find a scale to weight it. The 749R was 390 hot off the track with about 1 gallon of fuel in the tank. Good one on the paint job. :) The frame is really bugging the crap out of me... but if I mess with that, it'll be down the road. Initial priorities are making this thing a fire-breathing dragon on rails. So, the throttle goes to 11? </spinal tap> And has TC, no? Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: Speeddog on July 27, 2009, 08:06:33 PM Curious to see how you like the TC. :)
You already got HP mods in mind or is it suspension mods ? Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: tigre on July 27, 2009, 08:15:49 PM The big mods I've got planned are below. Basically no plans for motor initially. I'm hoping I can save some dough and run the termi ECU without getting a nemesis system. That would allow me to run traction control. I'd miss out on over-rev, but we'll see how the gearing works out on the bike anyway.
Chassis/suspension: New triples Revalve forks "near" flat-rate linkage for shock Revalve rear shock Respring front/rear 16.5" rims Other: Slipper clutch Motor: Set squish Set cam timing Close-ratio gearbox Curious to see how you like the TC. :) You already got HP mods in mind or is it suspension mods ? Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: Desmostro on July 27, 2009, 08:17:35 PM HA! Sa-WEET! w00t Tigre!
Congrats! [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup] You are going to l o v e that. man O man. Ya that silver/grey frame is a bit off. Some stripes will fix that for the mature Tigre look [laugh] one little gray streak. All you need now is some of that (http://carsmedia.ign.com/cars/image/article/782/782784/nos-in-your-belly--20070423022634423.jpg) [cheeky] Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: Spidey on July 27, 2009, 08:22:35 PM I just bought an 1198s to throw away in turn 9 at Sears next year. 9 again? It just doesn't seem fair. You have yet to show 1, 3, 4, 5, 10 or 11 some tiger love. Congrats. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: Desmostro on July 27, 2009, 08:39:43 PM 9 again? It just doesn't seem fair. TURN------> Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: desmoquattro on July 27, 2009, 08:40:09 PM Hey, if you play your cards right they might homologate that for American Superbike. Then you can run the Sears round again!
BTW - Congrats! Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: Drunken Monkey on July 27, 2009, 08:40:39 PM Congrats man! [thumbsup]
With that much power, I fear we'll be seeing the Tigerlove all over the track :o Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: DanTheMan on July 27, 2009, 08:47:16 PM Any scouting reports on the stock traction control system? Wondering if its noticable when used, but too primitive to make you faster. Almost a novelty...
Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: tigre on July 27, 2009, 08:55:55 PM It's an unknown quantity at this point. It is superior to the 1098R Traction Control... but that doesn't mean it's really workable.

Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: tigre on July 28, 2009, 04:43:35 AM All the more reason for a tall first gear.
With that much power do you need a CR gear box? Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: Michael Moore on July 28, 2009, 05:13:11 AM If it's the same TC system as the Streetfighter (and I think it is) it comes on pretty subtly, even at a high level. Not at all like hitting the rev limiter or anything. I predict you'll like it more than you think you will.
That said, I don't think I'd just pin the throttle fully leaned over and trust it not to spit me off. You might be able to do that, I'm just not there yet mentally. Oh, and the pic looks great - very badass bike. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: gojira on July 28, 2009, 05:40:12 AM Nice! [thumbsup] Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: sidm on July 28, 2009, 07:03:36 AM Yao-Zah! Congrats on the new ride! Hey, if you're going to throw it away anyway, send it this direction in the South Bay.
Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: BikerGoddess on July 28, 2009, 11:03:05 AM Congrats on taking the plunge Tigre! [thumbsup] Like folks have said, half the paint job is done already so get some frickin' stripes. ;D
Now you've made DQ consider selling both his bikes--and getting his ass curbside--for an 1198. Thanks. Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... What's the chance you'll need TC? [laugh] Just revalve the rear or go with a TTX? Slipper? Is that you need to replace the stock slipper or does it not come with one. The latter would be weird. Then again, if the point is to have a bike for WSBK homologation, then they could leave the slipper out and get to the desired price point. Did Scott talk you out of carbon fairings? Just get two or three sets of bodywork instead. Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: tigre on July 28, 2009, 11:15:58 AM I will probably just re-valve for starters, and evaluate TTX down the road.
Doesn't come with slipper. Scott talked me out of the carbon fairings. That money is better spent on suspension, etc. Just revalve the rear or go with a TTX? Slipper? Congrats on the 1198GRRR. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: tigre on July 28, 2009, 08:30:04 PM You can have it.
If you give me $$$$$. And let me have access to it as a back-up. Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: Michael Moore on July 28, 2009, 09:30:19 PM And pay no attention to those scratches on the top of it. [laugh]
Title: Re: Dear Michael Moore... Post by: Spidey on July 28, 2009, 09:49:54 PM This bike? I'll give you $749. Or even $848.
