Title: My New Compressor
Post by: He Man on July 29, 2009, 07:17:38 PM
A little bit of show and tell...

I've called northern tools and Quincy up twice in the last week trying to get a tracking number or something equivalent. THey said they would get back to me within 24hours but never did. Today the driver rings me up and says im in front of your house... Of course, I'm at work, and pretty pissed that I'm not there. He starts yaping about how hes not willing to help move it and i'm wasting his time, and i agree, so i told him im going to send 3 of my friends over to help him unload it off the snub semi-trailer. He says no, hes only going to do a lift gate and they charge for that.

So i call up his boss and I tell her that ive been trying to get in contact with someone who knows where it is, and i have the equipment to unload it, you should of given a courtesy call to let me know you are comming atleast 30 mins prior. I ask boss how much liftgate service is... $124 dollars. I said, no thank you. Have your driver come back tomorrow and have me be the last person on his route. She said she can get the driver to bring it back later tonight if he has time.

I told her, thats fine, ill be home between 6-7pm, just make sure the driver gives me a call atleast 30mins, a preferbly an hour before hand so i can borrow my friends forklift and just fork it down into my garage.

545pm the driver calls me up and tells me he's in front of my house again.... Needless to say, I was pretty flipping annoyed. I told him id be there in 20 mins, when i get there, all hell breaks loose in the sky and its raining like a hurricane , but just when we wheel the compressor to the edge of the truck it stops. THe driver stands back and has this look on his face like I'm doing someting insanely stupid. anyway, i lay the compress on its side and just slide it out on two wood columns and handtruck it into my garage.  Anyway, it rests in my garage after pushing it with a crowbar. All the wires are run, i just need to drop the outlet from the gangbox and install the 2 pole breaker and break the motor in and give it an oil change.

21amps
single phase 240v
Two stage 60 gallon
15cfm at 175pis (a little over 20 cfm at 100psi) and a 5 year warranty. Thanks to all who pushed me to buy it right the first time! I just hope it works!

So do I  :)  Something I meant to ask in the other thread but forgot:  Did you get synthetic oil with it?  I think compressor mfr's will give you an extended warranty if you use synthetic, but I think you also have to buy it from them to get the warranty.

I don't know much about breaking in new compressors.   I wonder if you use conventional compressor oil for the first 20 hours or so and then change to synthetic?  Maybe DP knows, or maybe it's in the documentation that came with it. I don't know how to "ride it like you stole it" to break in a compressor   ;D

i picked up their starter oil kit. They said it adds 2 years (3+2) to the warranty. The instruction manual (or lack there of) says i should leave the valve open and run it for a certain amoount of hours then change the oil. It comes with oil inside already, the new oil is for the oil change along with the air filter.

i haetn really looked at it yet as im planing on my trip with El Matador and such. But when i get back ill be all over this thing!
