Basically replacing the masters is an over complicated version of bleeding. Depending on the configuration of the outlets on the new masters vs the old you may need new lines. If we assume you don't need new lines - you will need - Crush washers - DOT 4 brake fluid - brake bleeding gear - various wrenches and drivers - Paper towels and a spray bottle of water. YOu'll want to clean up any spilled fluid ASAP. It can damage plastics and paint - so be ready. Tin foil can be wrapped over painted parts like you tank to help protect them HOW TO: Remove the master from the bar Disconnect the lines from the master by removing the bjano bolt. Fluid will come out so be ready. Remove the old crush wasters from either side of the line end fitting and replace them with new ones. Reconnect the line by connecting the banjo bolt to you new Master. Mount the new Master on your bars Fill the resevoir and bleeeeeeeeed. If your new master does not have a bleeder on it, you'll need to bleed the lines through the calipers/clutch slave. This may take a while since there will be a lot of air, at the highest point Obviously this is a quick version and not a video... but I've never heard of a video tute for this. |
