Just found this:
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/mcy/1298219910.html (http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/mcy/1298219910.html)
No, I'm not the seller.
Never mind. It's a scam. Too good to be true...
How is it a scam? He said it's sold...
The picture used was from this:
http://www.ridelust.com/frankensteins-monster-replica-of-73k-ducati-desmosedici-rr-built-from-a-monster-s4r/ (http://www.ridelust.com/frankensteins-monster-replica-of-73k-ducati-desmosedici-rr-built-from-a-monster-s4r/)
Either the seller just used this link to fake the ad, or he just sold a modded S4R for $70K
It "read" like a scam to me.
Oooh! Busted!
How did you find the original picture?
It's just conceivable that the poster just did a quick image search and picked a picture he liked for the ad without really paying attention to the source. He did say he didn't have "time for any brand new new pictures," and if his father really did have cancer one would expect him to be distracted and rushed.
It's getting a bit difficult to believe, though.
If legit, I wonder how he arrived at the $35k figure. He could easily have sold it for $50k, or put it on eBay.
Maybe he only owed $35k and just wanted to pay it off and be done with it?... Still seems fishy.

Cup holders? Highway pegs?
Supposedly there is not such a thing as heart cancer... because it is a muscle?

Well, THAT is a complete load of BS.
There's a whole range of muscle cancers, including heart cancer. One type, the mysosarcomas, are among the nastiest of all cancers, but most muscle cancers are pretty bad.
IF legit, I'm glad the guy ended up w/ fair market value ($70k). However, I tend to be cynical about CL postings every time. I bought a NEAR MINT (listed) Honda rebel on CL that didn't have a battery and has gooey carbs. Live and learn.
that replica Desmo is bad ass! I would love that bodywork...
Does one really need to raise money for cancer treatment of a father in London? Don't they already have ObamaCare over there?

No mention of heart cancer on the American Cancer Society website... I did a search

Speaking of D16RRs, I was behind one in our club's group ride today. It certainly is a unique sounding (and smelling) bike.

A negative result is not proof. mstevens is an MD and knows his stuff. ;)
From the Mayo Clinic website:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/heart-cancer/AN01288 (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/heart-cancer/AN01288)
QuoteHeart cancer is extremely rare. Although heart tumors do occur, the vast majority are noncancerous (benign). A 20-year review of 12,487 consecutive autopsies in Hong Kong identified only seven cases of cardiac tumor â€" an incidence of less than 0.1 percent â€" most of which were benign.
Cancerous (malignant) tumors of the heart are most often sarcomas, a type of cancer that originates in the soft tissues of the body. Occasionally, cancer can spread to the heart, such as from lymphomas that originate in the structures of the chest near the heart. Other cancers that can spread to the heart include melanomas and sarcomas.
Cancer can affect the heart in other ways, such as by causing damage to the heart valves (marantic endocarditis) or stiffening of the heart muscle (cardiac fibrosis). Cancer treatments can also affect the heart. Certain chemotherapy drugs â€" such as anthracyclines, high-dose cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan), 5-FU, taxanes, trastuzumab (Herceptin) and IL-2 â€" can damage the heart. Radiation therapy directed at or near the heart can cause damage to the heart muscle and increase the risk of coronary artery disease later in life.
even benign tumors in/around the heart are no joke. Tumors can grow pretty much anywhere.

You're not looking in the right place, then. When I was in medical school I saw two people die of primary cardiac malignancies.
There are most certainly cardiac sarcomas, which are primary heart malignancies. Metastases can also occur to the heart from primary sites elsewhere.

Edit: I see somegirl beat me to it.
