???
On a straight hiway run Saturday my fuel light came on at a staggering 105 miles.
I was riding through fog at about an indicated 80mph the whole way, 70-80 degrees.
Normally when it's warm like this I'll get about 50mpg at the same speeds.
Thoughts? Plug colors were good Friday when I pulled em to check for fouling after a 1 cylinder start Thursday night.
I've owned a few fuel injected bikes over the past few years, not one of them has ever fouled a spark plug. I think there are other issues going on if something starts up with one dead cylinder.
On the other hand, my S4 gets from 30 mpg to the mid 30's, that's about it.

The reason for the single cylinder thing is weak starting. If it's sluggish to start, sometimes one cylinder doesn't fire. New battery is on the way which should resolve that intermittent issue.
The lowest I'll normally get on the hiway is 42ish when temps are in the mid 40's.
Mighta been a fluke - bad gas - who knows.
I would say at 50 mpg something is wrong lol. I have an 04' s4r and my light is on anywhere from 110 to 125 miles depending on the riding. It will then take 3 gallons +/- 0.1 gallons. So I usually get around 40 mpg. From what I have read on here that is pretty typical for the S4R.
Upon further reflection I think the reduced mileage may have been due to the wet foggy air and open airbox. Just a thought.
I've got 50mpg on several tanks assuming it's gas station to gas station hiway, and I normaly run at 75. Around town is more like 35. Backroads running is about 40. Typically I start to wonder about gas at 135miles and the light comes on at about 140.
On a side note, I pushed aaalmost too far Friday night. I filled up saturday morning and put in 3.7 gallons ;)
There may have been a chunk of headwind too. Coming home from St. Louis (+/- 130 miles) I was just putzing along @ 70 when the bike started shuddering and stalling bad (this is the carbed 88 BMW, mind you). I got off and fiddled with it for a while and realized I just needed to turn her over to reserve. I got 50mpg on the way out there and after filling up when I got home, I realized I got 28 on the way back. Temp was the same, weather was the same, I can only think there was a really heavy headwind. Ride her some more and see if you can replicate it. If not, I'd write it off as a fluke.
