if you like the show don't read the books. it ruins the show. But besides that awesome show its priority 1 on my DVR.

I read the books before there was a show, does that mean the show is ruined to me? :'(
;)
BTW, I do like the show. [thumbsup]
i want to read the books just o see how much is different and how far past the books they are.

My girlfriend and I have been watching the show since the beginning. I got her the box set of books for xmas, she said this is one of those rare cases when the show is better than the books. She said they were basically Harlequin romance novels with vampires.

According to my girlfriend the books are different. Main characters in the show are very minor in the books.
According to my wife, who watches the series I think just to point out the differences between the books and the series and talk about it while I am watching the show and ruin it for me to enhance my viewing experience, there are a lot of deviations. Lafayette, I am told, is a much smaller character in the books.
I almost gave up on the series after season one, it moved so slow. As my friend who also struggled with it told me, "for a show with so much gratuitous nudity about heartless killers, who happen to be immortal, it is pretty goddamn boring." This season is better.
Haven't been able to watch it in a couple weeks. I'm watching Conan.. I didn't know the main vampire was a Brit?!?!
did you know that anna paquin is a kiwi?
they hide the accents rather well
and despite being totally smitten with godric and crying like a pregnant dog, eric is still badass.

But born a Canuck....
Did not know that either Derb?! I was surprised to learn that Scully was from the UK. I just found that out when I saw her on Graham Norton a few months back. I never was a big fan of X-files.
Anyway, a friend is taping the episodes we've missed so we're having a 4 hour True Blood marathon next week. The season must be coming to an end soon?

This is fascinating. Eric is really a Swede. He lost a lot of street cred with his weepy routine. And there are three episodes left 'till the end of the season.

and i still think he's badass.

I'm not sure I follow.
Are you saying the character lost street cred? Fictional vampires shouldn't have any sort of cred in the first place, since they don't exist.
Are you saying the actor lost street cred? He's getting paid to act, and he acted, so that should enhance his credibility rather than diminish it.
I remember when we watched the first episode in the hotel at Indy last year. I haven't seen another one yet. I'll have to netflix it when it's out on DVD or something. I'm just now watching Dexter. I'm way behind on anything on TV that isn't racing.
