does anyone know what the top speed is on an 09 1100. is top speed in 5th or 6th gear? thinking about a sprocket change.any info would be appreciated.
Planning to race it?
If not... top speed is well over what will get you sent right to jail in any state.
Anyways, going to a 14t or up a couple teeth in the back only looses you 5-10 mph of the tip top on average - but you get there faster.
Top speed will always be in 6th... other wise what's the point of it?
you can get to top speed in 5th?
Top speed cant be more than 130ish.
damn are you guys gonna make me go out and test an 1100 on the autobahn to verify this [bang]

Yes we are [evil]
I for one am shocked, nay appalled, that you have not done so yet.
you live in germany and you dare ask us what the top speed is?
[roll]
go make us proud. :'( report back soon.
My 1100/1100S Owner's Manual states that the speedometer max display is 186. Anything above that speed will show ---.
On the Autobahn? Cool! ;D
no don't have an 1100 (yet, but seriously considering it)
BUT seeing that i hit 213kph with a 696 and 14t sprocket... the 1100 top end may be beyond what i may be willing to do.
my brothers 99 gsxr 750 did 170 mph in 5th gear could not maintain it in 6th. so i figure if the same were true of the monster it might just switch its top speed from 5th to 6th.

hp is not an indication of speed with the mosnters.... the S4Rs is only marginally faster than the S2R1000, but it boasts almost twice the HP numbers

lack of torque on the top end with the 4cyl i suspect on that one?

Has to be more than that. I've had the S2R1000 to 141 and hand more to go, just no more room...
141 stock 1100 with my fat ass ran out of safe road. Thats indicated not gps your results may very
133 stock 696 with my fat ass ran out of same safe road. Thats indicated not gps your results may very
I have been into the 140s indicated. Actual is ~92.6% of indicated, which puts me firmly into the 130s, and it was still accelerating.
Side note: Top speed is not always achieved in the top gear. Some vehicles achieve their top speeds one gear lower because the final drive torque isn't sufficient in the top gear to overcome aerodynamics.
