Doesn't look like it, plus there is another one in the front of the bike (mounted on the oil cooler).  My guess is that they are those LED squid lights.  Rarely seen in this area of the moto world, they reside mostly in the motos from Japan.  Their mating habits are still unknown, as is their diet...

I really like the tank. I try to keep most of the plastic off but the front end looks mean. I bet that thing on a dark would look really good.

The Dunlop D205 tires were enough for me to not care about the bike, but the led clusters front and rear look like the same things that were used in Close Encounters of the Third Kind to communicate with the aliens.

With that headlight, and those mirror choices, I could see the lights being needed in the event that ET shows up and think he's sexually molesting his uncle.

BC.

Everything subjective... and we know this is a picky crowd.

I like:
The retro gauge shades
Paint

Don't like
The big nut things holding the mirrors up.  Looks out of place and awkward.
Paint on the cans.  The rest of the paint is nice and clean. The duc circle is splotchy and the eadges feather like the masking wasn't right.  IT clashes more since the rest of the paint is so nice and clean
Rubber tie downs for the fairing bit.  Looks out of place - perhaps there's a better solution

Add/Change
I agree about the seat cowl.  All monsters look a bit off (to me) w/o the seat cover.

- And why does it have a square oil cooler?  I thought 02 had the round style...

Congratulations on having the guts to make some changes on your bike.... and for being able to take criticism.

Sad to hear you are selling your bike. You may find that you will get more money if the bike is in stock condition - many buyers prefer stock bikes. You can always sell the additional parts separately.

Good luck with the sale. [thumbsup]

Ill post up my street fighter project to give you some ideas. IMHO I think that your project reflects exactly what you described. If that is what you wanted out of the project; then I say job well done.
My bike started life as a stock 2002 Monster 620ie Dark. I chopped it up and made a custom M900Sie Dark. Im still not done yet. I have been slowly working on this for a few years now. Good luck with your project. [thumbsup]

Missed the two biggest mods: the 45% increase in displacement and the single-sided swingarm 8)

As mentioned above; engine swap and a single sided swing arm. I also integrated the 620 controls to work with the electrical system of the 900. The gauge is a Motogadget unit. I changed the geometry of the bike by shortening the wheel base to match the SBK's and I used a taller front tire to offset the raised fork legs. The rear shock is a penske that has built in ride hight adjustment. The rear wheel is fron a 996 and the hub is from a 748. The decals on the side of the tank are metal flake black.
Work to still be done is: clean up the wires and gauge mounting, ceramic coat the exhaust and repaint the tank and cowl. Im not happy with them.

Yep, should have noticed it was an older bike, my bad sorry. Thats what I get for reading about every third word in posts.   It looks good for sure.
May I ask how you changed the geometry? (diff triple, short swingarm...). and did you coat the forks or wrap them?

I ride a 1098s, so I am by no means an authority on monsters, i've only ever had Ducati sbk's.

Looked like a late model S2R painted matt black. I did notice the rear wheel, but failed to add it to the list.  And I was kidding about not knowing these bikes, I've been around Ducatis for a couple of decades & been a dealership GM.   Still want to know about this geometry change.
Good luck with your ongoing project.

Hey truckinduc, lets see more shots of your beauty with the Buell wheel.  And what front end setup is that with the triple & the clip ons on top?  Is it longer (extended), or is your bike going to be crazy low? I'll guess that you had to use the H-D front end because of the caliper.

The geo change was the resault of me hating the head shake that the stock 620 was known for. The swing arm is a custom steel unit that I had made for this project. It is not an S*R swing arm. I had it made such that I would now have the wheel base of the SBK's
(http://i674.photobucket.com/albums/vv108/ducrider45/000_1244.jpg?t=1250708599)
I also raised the rear ride hight a bit(adjuster built in to new shock). I lowered the front end to allow for the clip-ons to mount over the top tripple. I also used a taller front tire. The seating position is a bit more agressive now. The clip-ons moved the bar position 1.5" forword and 1" down. I no longer need a damper, all of the head shake at speed is gone.
The forks are Fully adjustable Showa's and I anodized them.

Forks are Honda RC 51 units that are about the same lenght as stock.  Ill be machining a caliper mount.

Im also building a tubular trellis Cromoly swingarm, shortening the wheelbase, and modifying the frame for a 22 degree rake

A fellow member made the swingarm. His name is Norm. I did a bit of R&D on a few of the "mock-up's" [thumbsup]. I gave him the specs that I wanted and a few months later I was installing it on the project. The hardest part of the whole build was the fabrication of the new wiring harness. That sucked. I still have a bit to do with that as well. I may get to it this winter.

Forks are Honda RC 51 units that are about the same lenght as stock.  Ill be machining a caliper mount.

Im also building a tubular trellis Cromoly swingarm, shortening the wheelbase, and modifying the frame for a 22 degree rake
That is what mine is. The cromoly flexed a bit too much using just the tubing I had plates installed above and below the lower main tube. I also had to use gussets in and around the sharper bends. I went through 3 fab attemps before we got it right.

Mine is a hand made cromoly single sided swingarm. Just a some advise from someone that has one on thier bike. The original mock up came in at 11lbs. I think that the stock unit is over 20lbs. After the changes made to mine It is still 5 or 6 lbs lighter than stock.  [thumbsup]

boy, do i not like funky headlights. its a me thing, not that its not done well or anything. Even on the slick 'inspiration bikes' posted up. To me, most of those kits all look like they belong on some sort of motard, where the headlight is really an afterthought.

I didnt notice the one in the front. I dont think I've ever actually seen one of those LED light units, not my cup of tea.
I got a ticket once for putting multi color X-mass lights on the roof rack of my car a few years ago.

Dolph,

I was talking to the two guys that right off the bat pounded this kids bike (didn't look back, one might have been you).  I can see there are pages, and pages, and pages of MONSTERS.

I promise to save my milk.

And what up with your 620,900,  1098, 1600 math?   Where the hell did that come from?

BARTENDER,  Another Shot & beer.   PRONTO!

He claimed a 45% increase in displacement. That's the 1098 to 1600 cc comment, and the correction re: 620 to 900.

And the 620 to 900 conversion is really only 36.8% difference.

The 01 900 made 78hp, the 02 620 made 60hp (both are the factory numbers). So roughly a 20hp gain.

Thank you for the math lesson.

This is like a bad Saturday night live skit.    Or, "Who's on first?"

I can see why the thread got jacked to talk about xmas lights on cars.

The charge was "Impersonating an officer" The judge tossed it out. I did not have to say a single word in the court room. In MD you may no have any blue, red, white or purple lights on your car or bike. you can not have any light on your bike other than what is required. I have seen raids at local M&G's where they inspect all of the bikes and paper work. The test the Db's and look for extra lights. They have impounded bikes that had LEDs on them. but that is what you get for living in the "Peoples Republic of Maryland". Oh sorry, no politics; right.
