Title: Finally fixed my Fking bike today!!!!!!
Post by: Serious Groper on August 14, 2009, 09:35:28 PM
My QLD trip got postponed so i booked the bike in with Teknik as recommend by many Monster riders on here.

Took it in this morning came back in 40 mins and the bike is just perfect! I can actually steer now without feeling like the bike is fighting me.

The issue was Frasers Homebush did not put the front wheel on properly which messed up the axel and the forks and made the bike handle like sht. The also rounded the screws on the bottom of the forks. Retards. So i'm glad my whinging was at least corroect, not happy with Frasers.

The suspension has been stiffened right up and i had the rear height raised 8mm as the front felt to light to me. Took it for a strap around Old Pac and it rides brilliantly and is spot on accurate. Very happy!

Penrith so it's a decent hike from my plasce in Castle Hill.

The manage to raise the height without removing the rod which many people have said needed to be done. I guess the nuts weren't locked tight enough so they could do it whilst still in the bike.

Cost $60 all up.

The bike is going back to Frasers hopefully next week if i get time.

i) The fueling hasn't been done correctly when they put the exhaust on.
ii) When the bike is warm and sitting idle (eg at a set of lights for a few minutes), when you open the throttle it nearly stalls and you have to give it a rev to get it ticking over. Once you rev it, the bike is fine.
iii) When i remove the seat, the staples holding the cover on have rubbed against the tank and worn it down to the metal  :o   So i'll be demanding a tank respray and a new seat.

So there are still some issues but at least it handles now LOL.

Yeah I'd be taking them to task over the exhaust and fueling issues.
But I think the seat rubbing in a common Monster trait.
I don't think I have seen many that don't rub.

Glad you have had the front end sorted out and that you went to see Teknik.
I might have to pop out there this week.

cheers
Matty...

yep, I'll back up Matty...both of mine have it! you can also get a bit of duct tape/vinyl/mars bar wrapper to protect the finish if you wish.

My seat started to do that too pretty much after I bought it. I Just layered on some black gaffer tape over the staples to stop it rubbing any further.

Its not just Monsters guys. My supersport had one sticky-outy staple at the front of the seat that rubbed the paint off the tank from new.  [bang] I found these little felt spots at Bunnings that are supposed to be to  used in door frames to make the door shut softly. Stuck them over the staples and hey presto all fixed.

Is this what they call 'soul'?

Yes, but it is really just crap Gippo build quality....

Well said Ty! [thumbsup]

I went out and purchased some 3m clear stick on sheeting and placed is in all the usual rub spots. If you do dirt biking it is the same stuff they sell to protect plastics.
