Post by: rosstermyer on August 15, 2009, 07:30:42 PM
traded in the 696 this weekend for a new M1100s.  wow i couldnt be happier and i cant believe i waited this long!  the bike is all stock right now and will remain that way for a bit until i get used to the new powerplant.  not sure if anyone else has done this color combo so i took some pics for you guys.....big thanks to the fellas down at ducati austin as they made the deal extremely smooth and were very accommodating.

anyways, onto the pics....  [beer]

Get some Termis on that thing pronto.  And fix the 15 tooth sprocket.  I had mine out for a ride today, and loved every second of it!

Sometimes there's nothing better in life than to twist the throttle and let it all fall behind you in a blur.

That's beautiful.

For me, the touch that makes the difference on your bike is the white front fender - switching out the carbon fender on the 's' is a choice that ducks the trend, but looks great.

I notice you have non-stock mirrors, I've decided my own Mickey Mouse ears have to go too.

Of the mods I've made, I mostly recommend an open clutch  [thumbsup]

nice bike.  i have to get one of those one of these days.

as much as i would like to agree with a previous poster "get termis", and i'm one of the people that love the termi sound over all others, i have to say that on the new monsters, the arrow exhausts really nailed the cleaner lines down instead of the trumpet design of the termi.. wish termi would do the same thing.  lol

I went with speedymoto 10 spoke black cover and gold pressure plate.  I like it since it matches the ohlins.

that color combo just begs for the rear subframe to be painted red.

beautiful bike.

I've been thinking about doing this.  I wonder how involved removing/ smoothing and painting or powdercoating would be.  Maybe we'll see come winter.

well i'm a 1/3 way there. not sure if i want to tear the whole bike apart or not. but if i do, i will be smoothing that subframe and swingarm and matching to the mainframe.

If you go this route, be a pal and take lots of pics of the demolition.  The only thing really holding me back at this point is not knowing how involved removing the subframe is.  Looks like some of the engine mount bolts go would have to be completely removed as the subframe is 'under' the main frame.

The moto-corse 1100 has a smooth/ painted subframe so I know it can be done.

Both engine bolts and rear suspension are hooked to the subframe, but i'm not certain you had to remove too much. ie you can unhook the shock, pull out the front bolt and sides and loosen the rear , rotate it a bit back then put the front back in then take the back out. as long as you,re supporting the engine from underneath i think this could be done. but we will see. i for sure have to take the front frame off. and if i see that the subframe looks like it will slide out i'll let you know.
