Title: S4R Sparkplugs
Post by: 2KLuder on August 20, 2009, 02:05:33 PM
I read up on the tutorial page about how to change the plugs on my bike...or what i thought was my bike. In the title it says "how to change plugs on S4R"...but in the post it specifies "S4R Testastretta ". So i ordered the plugs NGK CR9EIX. Will these still work? On the NGK site they specify DCPR9EIX.

the cr9eix won't work.

The DCPR9 is the one you want.

Can't speak for ducpainter's recommendation for the DCPR9, but I'll share what I use.  My plugwires have the internal caps, so if like mine; you need plugs with removable caps.  Iridiums are out for the setup.  Learned the hard way.  Caps still do not detach on iridiums.

Anyhoo!  I have been using NGK DCPR7E / .024" (0.6-0.7mm) gap.  Ran these for 10K or so and changed during my 12K service and they still looked great and the bike performed flawlessly.  Originally when I tuned the bike, we fowled a couple and threw these in and they work great.  These can be picked up at most auto parts stores for $2 or so.  You can always pull the vertical plug and replace with like item…

Well i ordered up DCPR9EIX's a few days ago. Hope they have the right caps, the CR9EIX iridiums did. I took a look
at the champions in the bike and they look alright but worn. Amazed at how easy it was to change plugs in a monster.
I owned several four cylinder bikes until this point and wow, i'll change the plugs in a duc anyday!
