Tried just about everything.. this is the STOCK w/udder exhaust slip joint from the front cylinder. Thought it was the gasket.. nope.. then stacked two gaskets.. still a leak. So then I notched the pipe, added a clamp, but the metal is a bit too thick to evenly clamp down, and not enough clamping area is possible for the header pipe. Damn. Thinking about having my buddy just weld it. I really cant see what would cause this. The header pipe sees fine and isnt collapsed, and the inside of the midpipe seems good too. This has been going on since I got the bike (used). I kept seeing soot on the oil cooler line. Now I know the reason but cant seem to fix it. Any ideas? Tried the hi-temp RTV, but that didnt last- no surprise
Full Termi system is the only known cure!!!!! ;D
You will get to replace the pipe from the heads to the cans.
Yeah, i thought about that. I have marving slip ons now. Just hate dumping time and funds on something that should be sealing from the factory. Wondering if i weld it, if it will cause stress at the studs on the head since theres no longer any "slippage" at the joint.

Actually the Termi systems take a fair bit of work to fit properly. Mine still leaks somewhere since the install 18 months ago. >:(
I have re-installed my termis a couple of times now too. I think that i finally got it with this last one though. And yes, I did have fitment issues upon initial installation...nothing a dremel couldn't fix.
I decided against welding it. I figure if I ever want to put on a mid pipe, Id have to replace the header and the collar too. So i got some 005 brass shim stock, wrapped it around the end of the header pipe, and slipped it in. Clamped it down, and solved about 80% if the leakage. [drink]
Nice job!
