adding the stock codes
Ducati anniversary red, code F_473.101 (PPG);
Matt black code 291.501 (PPG);
Pearl white code 490.019 (PPG); found that somewhere but in the parts manual it says *0040
transparent, code. 228.880 (PPG); for white and red only
Gloss black (frame? or 1100? anyone?) code 248.514 (PPG);
Good info but before you walk in to a PPG store to buy it make sure they sell PPG Global or they'll look at you like you have three heads.
Also the codes with the PAL in front are not PPG codes per se. PAL may be owned by PPG, but it isn't available here AFAIK.
here's the website
http://www.palinal.it/index.asp (http://www.palinal.it/index.asp) the english version doesn't work... so practice your bikes language :D
anyone know where I can get PPG paint in or around the San Francisco Bay Area?
I'm not against riding somewhere to pick it up either.
anyone know the ppg code for the 80's tank skins silver
edit: nevermind.. used my brain and checked the 1100 parts catalog
"Silver Matt" (PAL) 928D998
Thanks to another thread, I just purchased a touch up pen and a primer pent from www.colorrite.com (//http://). Now to sand and clean it up. I will try and do a quick before and after to see how it looks.
Alternative is to walk a sample of the color you want into the store and have it custom matched. Took about 15 minutes and they did a perfect job. $20 for a rattle can and and a pint. Three years ago.
Went to get the Pearl White today from a PPG Global distributor. It was quite easy actually.
The Paint code specifically is *0040 also mention Ducati "Blanco Perla" and they will get you the right stuff!
It is also a two stage paint - Color and Clear. Usually Pearls are 3 stage.
The stuff ain't cheap either - $44.00 for a half pint and $22.00 for the reducer. That does not include any clear either.

How much is the red stuff? I was kinda kicking around the idea of incorporating the red by either painting the center stripe on the tank red and then continue on the rear cowl. White is $88 per pint, so how much more is the RED??? :o
