starts with authority.
Motowheels exellent to deal with.
Nice mod [thumbsup]
Nice. I did a smaller battery in the M900 years ago, found that it made the bike a bit more tempermental for morning starts. Went back to the OE sized battery (dry cell though), and lost 8 lbs. from my waist.
Mine was a smaller Yuasa. Let us know how your battery reliability is if you could. . . .
I've had one on my S4Rt since last year. I didn't ride it one day over the winter, without a tender on it. 7 months sitting in the garage (doing mods/waiting on parts) and it fired up first try the other day. It's new battery tech, not a "smaller" battery.
You can buy the same cells from A123 for about 25% the cost of buying the pre-built pack. Of course some assembly required that way.
Which one did you get? Was it the Speed Cell 6.9 or the Speed Cell 9.2
neither

That battery is $250?
Yup. Cheapest 8lbs you can loose off the bike bar none [thumbsup]
from the site "Each PACK is made to a DoD standard, capable of withstanding 100G load, operating temperatures of -50*C to 49*C (-58*F to 120*F)."
So what happens when the temp. is in excess of 120 deg. F.? Something tells me that the battery box sitting on top of the vertical cylinder on my S4Rs may see temps over 120 deg. The temps may be under 120 when your moving but I bet the heat soaked temp. would rise above 120 after you shut off the bike.
we'll find out,, and let you know .
mine still starts with authority.
I recently replaced my OEM battery on the RS. I looked into that battery ($$$), but when the local Yamaha shop offered a new OEM for $101 my decision was made.
R1 Yamaha uses the same battery as Ducati S4RS.

Yeah, I've ridden when it was close to 120 degrees (118). I can tell you the heat coming off the engine was significantly hotter than 120....
