Title: fuel, commuting Post by: jntrees on May 22, 2008, 03:37:53 PM Alright, I ride my bike a pretty good amount, 7,500 miles plus a year, rain, fog, 30 degree days, etc. Do you guys find you ride more now for everyday errands considering gas prices when you would normally drive your SUV?
Fuel costs are pretty much hitting us all hard now, I for one am doing pretty good as far as fuel costs. Great reason by the way to tell the wife for your Monster purchase. I have alot of friends now who are asking about bikes, riding, etc. I turned a few on to the MSF corse here. In fact, I may look into a heated jacket and shit to ride with on those cold, dark mornings commuting to work this winter. How are you guys making out? Thoughts?.. I have those days when I don't feel like riding but for the most part its been pretty good. I get about 44mpg on a 05 S4R. Not to bad I suppose [thumbsup] Title: Re: fuel, commuting Post by: Stangman on May 22, 2008, 04:14:54 PM Wisconsin winters leave me with no choice but to store my bike during those cold months, but all spring, summer and fall I ride pretty much anytime it's not pouring rain. I usually end up with around 35mpg which I don't think is bad considering it's a carbie. My backpack has gotten a lot more use lately though as I use the bike to run and get little stuff from the store as apposed to taking the car.
Gas prices really have never effected my wife or I much though. I am blessed to work 2 miles from home and she does in home day care out of our house. |
