Hi,

I know nothing about this - but thought this might be of help? Or possibly you've seen this already.

Child Support Estimator.
http://www.csa.gov.au/estimator/index.aspx (http://www.csa.gov.au/estimator/index.aspx)

This might be handy as it is using the same metrics that the CSA uses when they assess how much support should be paid.

Good luck. [beer]

Been there done that Pigmy and thankfully out the other end...........

And I had the same issue with how the funds were being spent.....   :-\

You pay the cash and she can do whatever she likes with it till your kids turn 18 then you can pay directly to them...  [bang]

Only way to reduce your payments was to reduce your taxable income....

That was some time ago and in SA so don't take this a gospel....

Yep what Big T says....

Stress less Pigmy...  Calm down...

You have to pay the $$$...  Just pay it and forget it!!!  Don't let it burn you up...

Pigmy,

The only fix is to own nothing, earn nothing then you give nothing!

Sorry mate havn't been there but to my knowledge there is no win for the man.

The only way out is to hire a good QC and fight your claim your X is not stable and you would be the better carer for your kiddie!

Note this is not likely to be a cost saving measure ... would only be done for the welfare of the kiddies.

My brother went through this for his two kids (and their welfare was definitely the issue). Don't know the details as we aren't real close (due to his ex, going back years) ... he eventually got the kids but financially he is make the beast with two backsed - will be forever probably.

This is a tough one.  I have been through it and just finished paying the money to the x-wife as the son is now 18.  I was lucky that I had a very good relationship with the X but still she got lots of cash to spend on whatever she wished.  You can try to opt to pay for things like the health benefits, school fees etc and clothing.  Keep receipts as they are all eligible as payments for child support.  If you keep a tally of every payment you can then without payments once you are in credit.
