And yes I did enter as the only entrant from South Africa ;D

Ducati is having an "art contest" for the various International Clubs for the M696/M1100 Monsters.  Essentially each club was provided a set of bodywork that needed to be painted by the club members and then pictures taken and posted online for voting.
The Ducati Monster Art Contest link is here --> link (http://www.monsterartcontest.ducati.it/jspcontest/index.jsp?lang=en)  (when you visit, please vote for any of the entries!)
Besides the DMF, I also involved with www.DucCutters.com (//http://) (//http://) club -- which probably has the most Ducati features of modified and heavily modified Ducati's there are.  Thus once the contest was announced, we decided we wanted to do something very very different than anyone else might fathom.  To essentially create "wallpaper design patterns" and thus how they could be applied to a Ducati.  Intent was to step 100% outside of the normal paintjob parameters and here is what we created (see pictures below or via the contest site itself) -- an intermixture of the Ducati corporate logo as well as the DucCutter logo itself.  So far the response via friends is love it -vs- hate it.
We popped the panels on an M1100's enthusiasts bike for the pictures -- thanks Jerry!

that really does scream for matching luggage  ;D
(oh and i voted  ;))

I could see a certain segment of the market being interested in that print concept.  It did turn out quite nice judging by the pictures.  I wouldn't do it to my own bike, but I'd take a pair or two of Joe Boxer's with that print pattern and color though!

Big Troubled Bear, a fellow DMFer has an entry...
I like it a lot better.

Here is my entry, for the Ducati Owners Club Of South Africa.
We paint a lot of Ducati`s and it is always the same old same old ( Racereps or variations of the standard colours with stripes )
As we also do a lot of custom airbrush work on Harleys and cruisers we decided that it was time to do something different to the norm and incorporate nothing from the Ducati theme and put on a few monsters with the industrial look of gears in the background.
The bike was given a base coat of black and then all the art work was done in pearl white and finished of with red candy, finally we gave the bike 3 coats of clear with white and red cyrillics and then 4 more coats of clear.
Thanx for the vote Nate, coming from you it means a lot [thumbsup]

Some interesting bikes, but this description is the highlight of the website:
"The human heart is the home of passion. Ducati is passion, Art is passion, Monster is passion. The "Pum Pum" sound is as the heartbeat. Sound "Pum Pum" is like the sound of the Ducati, the "pompone" engine, the famous Ducati nickname. The ideal motorcycle exists, the perfect no. The perfect motorcycle is human and mechanical blend, only the drive-motorcycle unity, becomes perfection. Monster "Pum Pum" is the mixture between Lady Ducati personality, Club spirit, and the Monster model, is the Lady Ducati Monster ideal. It is the continuity and projection of the Lady Ducati jacket, with patch and pin. The jeans cover, is like the Monster convenience, and "casual" type of use."
WTF?  [laugh]

Help out your fellow Indiana Ducati riders.
Our club project is up for votes. Stella Rosa, the bike I designed with the help of Troy, Jared, Daren and Jeanne. The painter/artist Fernando "Tito" Ramirez, was able to get my sketches and produced a fantastic work of art.
Please take a minute of your time and vote. Project 13

Check out my clubs (Ducati Motor Club- Denver) post for the 2009 Monster Art Contest:  http://www.monsterartcontest.ducati.it/jspcontest/scheda.jsp?id=29 (http://www.monsterartcontest.ducati.it/jspcontest/scheda.jsp?id=29)
Only (4) photos were allowed to be submitted (per instruction from Ducati Italy), as well as one of the "design team".    I hope you all can enjoy our contest entry as much as we do!!!
We wanted to stay with the "hooligan" aspect of the Monster as much as possible- still allowing for some "floss".  The basecoat is a matte black, and striping in candy green and gold flake, with red pinstriping to accentuate the green striping.  In person, the bike is absolutley beautiful when viewed underneath strong lighting or sunlight.   At dark the lines are very dark and almost abstract.  We wanted to be sure and pronounce the lines of the new bodywork and stick to a "racey" theme while doing something different than anyone has done before.  We hope you like it!
Monster Art at its finest...
Congratulations to all the worldwide clubs who have been able to compete in this project.  There are many wonderful interpretations of "Monster Art"   Ultimately the benefits all of us Monster lovers by promoting the brand, the image, our artists, and our culture.

				Nice work fellas.

				I'm a little confused.
I'm sure when I voted (some time ago) that there was only about a dozen entries. It is likely that i have done something wrong, but did anybody have a similar experience?
Seems odd to me.

Some clubs were running behind and they uploaded their bikes as they were finished.

Oh, seems like an odd way to run a voting competition ... but I s'pose if the entrants were running late it was not the organiser's problem.
Thanks for clarifying.
