I test rode an 1198 today and I need someone (other than my wife) to tell me I am crazy. I am seriously thinking about buying a new, hold over 1098 and selling the monster and 748. I'm not sure why I think this is a good idea to get rid of two bikes that I am perfectly happy with and pick up a new one with only 2 1/2 months of riding left. I think it is that I have actually become so attached to the two bikes that I don't want to let them go. On that note, anyone looking for a used bike? [evil]
Don't want to talk you out of the 1098..
you have a track and road bike now..
how much for the yellow 900?
and the yellow 748?
I guess if you were going to sell the 'best' street bike ever built...
and the 'most beautiful' SBK ever built...
to buy one bike...that is better on the street than the 748, but not as good as the monster...
a 1098 is the bike to get. ;D
I have finally come to my senses. There are just too many factors working against me. The timing is poor. All of the paperwork and origional parts are still in VA, so i couldn't get them for 2 weeks. They were only going to give me $3k for each bike. I really don't want to sell the bikes because of DP's points and I feel that these are "my" bikes. They aren't going to really be worth any less next year than right now. Above all, I still have no idea where in the world I am going to be at the end of February.
Though I have given in this time I have not given up. This winter I will do some suspension work on the monster, and various other maintenance items on both bikes and be ready to pick up a 1098 or 1198 in the spring if a good opportunity arises. I will also have to try to convince my wife that my bikes aren't even worth selling at this point, so I might as well keep them. [evil]
Put the Monster up for sale (optimistically priced) - that takes care of the "sorry darling, not able to sell".
Then trade the 748 for a 1098.
Best of both worlds [thumbsup]
