Title: More Testing at IMS
Post by: dropstharockalot on September 03, 2009, 04:59:34 AM
Not sure if this goes in this section, but it seemed racing / track-day related:

Grand Am(?) testing in Indy (http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090903/SPORTS0107/909030429)

Some rumors have NASCAR abandoning IMS in a couple years because the track is too flat and the races aren't exciting.  I'll believe it when it see it, but this will probably spark some talk of replacing the Brickyard 400.

Dunno about Rice's comment regarding starting during the day and finishing under the lights, though... I imagine IMPD and the State Police wouldn't love the idea of turning 150,000 drunks out to their cars in the dark.

The speedway would also have to spend a make the beast with two backs ton of money to install lights for the facility too.

That's interesting that TG tested his sports car before the leman's race. Tony actually did the late driving stint that year.

I just found out my buddy actually got to be one of the driver's today.

Here he is in a prototype on loan from another team. He has raced in the 24hr Race a few times, but they sold all the equipment a few years ago.
