Went for a ride with my 94 M900 and after about 5 miles the bike died, tried restarting...nothing !
I checked the starter fuse and it was done, so I replaced it with a fresh one, the bike restarted and I raced home !
After I parked it I noticed the smell, the voltage regulator was melting, checked the forum and found out it was a common problem so I replaced it.
I charged the battery and the voltage is12.4, the bike starts but the voltage drops to 11.9 and the starter fuse fries again.
Is it the stator that fried the regulator ? If so , is it hard to replace ?
Thanks
Norm.
check the connector whereyellow stator wires connect to the regulator. Also, read this: http://www.electrosport.com/technical-resources/library/diagnosis/fault-finding-guide.php (http://www.electrosport.com/technical-resources/library/diagnosis/fault-finding-guide.php)
