Title: DBOOST PERFORMANCE CHIP, ebay ecu chip solution?
Post by: onaboat on May 23, 2008, 02:30:49 AM
saw this while browsing ebay for cheap used exhaust, i remember skipping through it a few times but finally checked it out. the price is very tempting just to try it out, but i dunno if itll mess up my ecu. any one have any opinions/experience about this product? heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DBOOST-PERFORMANCE-CHIP-DUCATI-695-S2R-S4R-TESTASTRETTA_W0QQitemZ120263207224QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item120263207224&

The new unit is likely changing the signal back to the ECU to make it think the air is cooler (denser) and the AFR is too lean there by adding more fuel to the mixture.  It looks interesting.  If you try it, keep us posted!

I am considering this since I have the boomtubes with a stock ECU, no PCIII and no O2 Sensor. For the price listed, if it doesn't work, you aren't out much...

It strikes me that this unit is simply a couple of variable resistors, nicely packaged.

So, as a genuinely tunable replacement for something like a Power Commander: no.

As a slightly higher priced alternative to ripping out your O2 sensor and replacing it with a variable resistor: maybe.

Isnt this basicly an O2 emulator?
How much is an RB unit?
Realistically, the RB unit isnt something made in the garage and has been tested. This thing? well. Ill be damned if it fries your ECU.

hhmmm i might just try it out if it doesn't work i'll be out about 10 gallons of gas but if it does i won't have to fork out the money for the termi kit from ducati and i could cut open my intake box with k&n filter and slip-ons i actually like [moto]
