So what's your worst fear while riding?
One of mine is hitting oil and dropping the bike at speed. I came face to face with it a couple of hours ago.
Getting off the freeway to put gas in, the car 2 cars in front of me hit a pothole and drained his entire oil pan. I didn't get to see this until my front wheel was about to hit the biggest oil spill this side of Alaska. Well to make a long story short the front tucked immediately and both me and the bike slid about 100 feet face first in oil that was long overdue for a change.
I'm fine, I was wearing full gear, not a scratch on me just pissed. The bike is a little scratched up but otherwise ok. I'll post more details and pics later.
glad ur ok [thumbsup]
bummer to hear about a fear coming true :-\
Yikes!
Glad you made it out the other side of that in one piece!
Have a [drink] on me.
Aweful luck, but at least you came out ok. Was the guys still around after you went down?

Yeah, his car didn't run too good with no oil in it. He was nice about it and the cop that showed up was great too. He made a point if calling the guy's insurance and making sure they knew it was his fault
glad you're not broken anywhere. highway slip-n-slide = thesuck.
that sucks man, you went down on the S2R1k? Kind of the same thing happened to me. slipped on oil and a car stopped me. lol
glad to hear your okay. Looks like today is not a good day.
Sucktastic!
Bad news, but at least you're still in one piece, and the bike isn't too badly damaged.
Glad to hear/see that you are ok. Any idea how the bike is going to fare through this?
Whoa, Jesus, glad you're alright, man! How are you feeling - sore at all?
Sorry to hear about the new bike...glad you're ok!
Sorry to hear that. I ran thru a oil spill about 2 months ago and that scared the crap out of me. I posted my experience in "I saved it" section.

Damn it bro! Glad you were geared up. Good to hear the Leo was on your side and the dead car didn't make it too far.
Dude, glad you didn't slide into something (like the car that puked the oil) and are OK. Sorry about the scratched up scooter. :P Damn, what kind of potholes do you have in your town? [bang]
There are few things scarier than watching the person you love come into your bedroom to wake you up covered in sticky black gunk and saying "Ok, Don't freak out..." oil and blood look far too much alike.
What Matador forgot to mention is that he was on MY bike (i.e. his former bike) and not the S2R.
It has not been a good summer for bikes owned by me [bang]
You two have not had much luck recently. Glad you are OK.
I went down a few years ago on my 900SS same situation but a deep gravel filled pothole in a construction area at night. First I was up and in a turn and next thing I knew my chin guard was bouncing off the ground.
That sucks, but at least you are OK and you have an excellent witness.

You stay away from Fenix >:(
;D
Very sorry to hear of this most unfortunate mishap.
It may have been worse.
The car may have missed the pot hole and it may have snuck up on you and caused a more horrendous accident.
My worse fear is that I am going at a high rate of speed on my " R " and go head on in to a vehicle or off the road and hit a large tree at a high rate of speed.
Can you say .......Splat !...or more like crrrrrrrruuuunchhhhhhh !!!!
Dolph :)
Sorry, glad you are ok though. :-\
Sorry to hear about your unplanned slip and slide experience. :(
Glad to hear your okay and will still make it to DIMBY. [thumbsup]
Glad you're OK.
Booo oil!
Hooray Gear!
Good that you're not worse for your slide - this going to impact your east coast trip?
well, you're not the only one :(
although mine was in the rain and there wasn't an engines worth of hot oil.
way to not get hurt... [thumbsup]
Glad you are OK. I was lucky once. Out in the middle of nowhere, an intersection with a flashing 4-way red light. It was nearly dark, I could see semi trucks parked around the intersection, maybe a good place to park and sleep. I usually go fairly quick up to a stop, but for some reason something seemed odd and I started slowing, letting the engine slow me down well before the stop - maybe I didn't want to wake anybody up, not sure. Then I smelled diesel fuel - strong - and then both lanes looked wet... There was a large diesel spill just before the stop light. Maybe those truckers had expected some evening entertainment or something. Luckily I was slowed down enough, tapped my rear brake just enough to feel the rear wheel lock up but was able to stop there in the middle of the spill - I was lucky that night.. It was slow going getting started again with the tire wanting to spin up.
Glad you're ok. That is definitely the suckage.
I was hit on the interstate once doing about 80mph. I got lucky I was wearing a helmet and leather work gloves. Coulda been way bad, but I not only rode away I threatened the mans life(who hit me). [laugh]
My biggest fear as always been coming into a corner to hot and becoming a grease smear on a rock wall (you've ridden in CO so you know the kind of walls I'm talking about). Almost happened twice, but I just leaned it over and prayed to the tire gods while using all my will power to stay off the brakes. I went over the yellow line all the way to the edge of the pavement once.
Whoa, Whoa, Wait a minute. Your OK,right?
You crashed Lu's bike? "Lu"ser. [laugh]

Sorry to hear about the fall though. :(
Crazy story, and also something I think about often.
Glad to hear your alright!
Glenn

Bull fighter just now got an ID that says he's legal to drink, So, the fact that he knows about Exxons little mishap is pretty damn impressive.
The main thing is your all right, any crash on a bike you can walk away from is great.
[thumbsup]

i was at prince edward the following year and only saw hippies doing the clean up, therefore, your father is a hippy.
Hey, I thought you and Lu were coming to DIMBY?
Nope, they were beating feet to my place.

Stinking hippies!
Hey , lay off the Hippies !
What did they ever do to you ?
If it wasn't for Marijuana, California would be a third class economy.
I wish the Government would hurry up and legalize the stuff.
I like to garden and enjoy the fruits of my labor.
Dolph..... :)

I can bad-mouth long-haired hippies all I want, simply because I used to be one of them. ;)
You were not kidding about the amount of oil. Wow. Glad to see you lived to tell the tale [thumbsup] I hope the post-crash cleanup goes smoothly...
Now, let's see some pics of the bike... so we can photoshop people in hazmat suits carefully hand-cleaning oil off ducks and seals. :)
