Title: Clutch handle nut?
Post by: Mike Qube on September 10, 2009, 04:03:47 PM
Anyone know what size the nut is that goes on the hollow bolt that holds the clutch handle on? Today I notice it was gone as that bolt was rising out. Now I know why there is a zip tie on the brake lever one.

he has a 97 M750...

You can buy the nut from the dealer. Check with Ducati Seattle or Commonwealth.

I don't know the size.

If you look at the remaining nut on the brake lever you will see it is a special nut, so you should get it from the dealer.  Add BCM to ducpainter's list if Ducati Seattle or Commonwealth don't have one in stock.  A wire tie through the pivot bolt will save you from this problem in the future.

I just checked out the one on the brake lever, it's just a type of locknut. I believe I've seen them in an electrical supply place.

In metric sizes?

I ended up finding one at a place in Wakefield MA called "Metric Tool". I found out the type of nut, it is a Pal Nut. The Ducati dealer here wanted $8 for it, with a wait of 2-4 weeks. I paid 64 cents, so I got a couple of them. I put a zip tie through the bolt to avoid this in the future.

Nice find.

You should post the info in the replacement parts thread.

Just posted!

If anything else decides to fall off the bike, I'll post if the have those also. The place seems to have everything that could be needed when it comes to metric.
