Howdy....
..um... dumb question, but can anybody tell me what size socket I'm just about to buy to remove the rear wheel nut on my 2009 1100s Monster?
Thanks in advance for the wisdom [thumbsup]
46 miliwoples [thumbsup]
I may be wrong (it is a habit I have tried to break in the past) but I think you are the only one in Ozmo land with an M1100.
Saying it is the same as an S*R could be wrong ???
Sorry I can't help.
46mm - thanks [thumbsup] [beer]
Yep it's 46mm-41mm sprocket side.
Thanks for your help with the sizes guys - I phoned 2 Ducati dealers, neither of whom could tell me (how impressive is that.... [roll]). So.... bike's up on stands, wheels successfully removed....

Did they also tell you not to believe what you read on the internet ... especially from all those crackpots that frequent the forums?

Nah, they save that shit for when you tell em how an imaginary and/or non-existant-problem that they've never heard about is actually well documented and all they have to do to fix it is......

Direct from Andersons (they were out at Minto ... more correctly Minnow):
. rang them
. exchanged details
. stands arrived soon after
. all good
Can't remember exactly how much but I think it was on their website ... we even got a bit of a discount for buying in bulk.
EDIT:

Still in Minnow.

Looking neat, do love gold wheels as you may have seen.
What's happening with the skins?
You also said bars are going on, clip-ons or normal types.

Thanks Matty. I found another source for Swatt bars.... so I have a set of those on the way. I'll have a play around and see how they set-up compared to Speedymoto Tallboys and decide from there..... The skins? They're currently receiving the paint treatment....
That's great then, I'll look forward to your results and do keep me high on the Tall Boy list.
I put it up in your other thread but I think your wheels would be set off nicely by some billet wheel nuts.

Yeah thanks smarty-bum I've seen those. Any more of the new paint? Although your ugly-naked scheme isn't too bad.
With all the mods, the bike is almost good looking. If you can get around to the full trellis frame mod I reckon you'll have a winner ;) [cheeky] ;D
Very nice mate, very nice.
One of these could be nice....
Can't have too much gold bling [thumbsup]

Excuses, excuses [cheeky]
The bike looks fantastic. Considering all the 'new monster' style competitions that have been around in the recent past its a shame you aren't one of the chosen clubs or shops. Definite BOMB material I reckon.
Well done.
very very nice UNGE
Great looking bike.
The detailing is very nice, might have to adjust what I am thinking about doing.

:D :-[ ;D In an unusually coy moment, ungeheuer looks down at the ground at his left foot nervously pivoting around in embarrassed glee....um... thanks guys, thats high praise indeed! Considering that I stole the ideas from those 'new monster' style competitions and that the work is that of Brad at Bikecraft >> http://www.bikecraft.net.au/ (http://www.bikecraft.net.au/) << the glory really belongs to others and not to me.

I took Matty's advice and had my nuts done black. But given the outrageously high torque loadings specified to tighten em...... anybody got any tips on how to do em up without damaging he anodising? Tried masking tape and a thin cloth already ..... but thats another story :-\ ;)
yer gas tap not the white stuff that plumber use its yellow and made of nylon and used on gas fittings and hydrolic fittings wrap yours nuts with that and toque and peel off [thumbsup]
sounds like teflon tape you're describing Bazz.

Hey, good idea [thumbsup] Although I thought that gasfittings used the pink teflon tape?? ...I got bucketloads of the white teflon....

no nylon tape its much stronger [thumbsup]
When I got my billet items I got the tool to fit it.
Doesn't leave it totally unmarked but it does better than a socket.
I used a speedymoto axle nut tool.... and it marked the STEEL nut spinning it off..... so I dont like the chances for the ano aluminium nut coming out unscathed....
Nylon tape huh? Thanks bazz20, I'll go get me some o' that.
Quote from: mattyvas on September 27, 2009, 05:14:26 AM
You need just one thing to finish that rear wheel.
Billet nuts either side, I got black and I think they'd look [thumbsup] on your wheels.
Took your advice Matty [thumbsup]
