Title: What's this thingy and what does it do?
Post by: Goat_Herder on September 13, 2009, 08:24:17 PM
I was working on adding an oil cooler to my M620 this weekend.  After putting everything back together in working order, I went out for a quick ride to see if the oil cooler was functioning correctly.  After a 10 minutes ride, I got home and realized that this thingy wasn't even plugged in.   ???  What is this thingy for anyway?  Thanks.

i believe it controls the injectors... cause my RB3 unit plugs into. if its not, then i can only guarentee that it is a port for plugging something important into... :)

Well, a look at the parts guide (http://issuu.com/ducatiomaha/docs/m620ie_usa-02 (http://issuu.com/ducatiomaha/docs/m620ie_usa-02)) tells us that it's a sensor.

What it senses, I'm not sure. Perhaps a temperate sensor, or pressure?

*shrugs*

If you give it a bit, someone smarter will come along and enlighten us all.

Now we know.

And, in the immortal words of G.I. Joe, knowing is half the battle.

Given the position - Cam sensor? Do we win a prize if we get it right?   [drink]

I can't imagine it running very well with the cam sensor disconnected.

LOL, that's what I was going for.

I can't imagine it running very well with the cam sensor disconnected.

The bike was running just fine with it disconnected.  It even registered temperature.  Weird...  I wonder if there is any other temperature sensors and the reading is the average or the highest temperature.

oil screen filter bolt = dash temp display
cam cover sensor = ECU input (temp)
