Title: Oil Temp Headaches....
Post by: TightLines on September 15, 2009, 04:35:58 PM
About a month and a half ago my oil temp readout started acting a little goofy (big - instant swings from Lo to 200) sometimes even reading - - -.  I topped it up with a bit of fresh oil and it was fine for the ensuing month or so.

Went out for a ride about a week ago and the problem started up again so I put a bit more oil in it thinking it would solve the problem again, but alas - no luck.

Bike is running fine which leads me to think it may be the temp sensor.

This is happening on an '07 695 with 2,400 miles.

Any ideas?

+1.
The oil temp sensor connector loosens quite easily. It's also easily fixed. Slide the rubber "boot" back from the sensor, tighten the female connector over sensor and slide the boot back on. If you're still getting faulty readings then the problem is elsewhere.
