Title: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: mattyg on September 16, 2009, 08:48:07 AM What are the options out there? I haven't found too many. I am not really interested in CF.
Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: junior varsity on September 17, 2009, 06:50:56 AM There's SpeedyMoto, and Rizoma as billet options. That's what is on my M900:

That was not for me. Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: Bill in OKC on September 17, 2009, 10:10:52 AM Those pulleys are nice. It would be a shame to hide them. Looks great!
Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: junior varsity on September 17, 2009, 10:18:54 AM If you are senselessly pretty pulley-less, I might suggest the SpeedyMoto covers, which cover the pulley behind some attractive billet hiding the less attractive factory or even STM adj. pulleys.
I went with windows and thus Rizoma, just for that reason. Gotta show 'em. Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: jamanta on September 17, 2009, 12:25:53 PM If you like to work on stuff and want something affordable, you can try to make your own covers out of the stock ones. Mine cost me a total of $30 and i had a blast making them and was so happy with the result!!! [thumbsup]

Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: junior varsity on September 17, 2009, 06:29:04 PM Uh...people don't really replace 'em with another solid except for carbon fiber. there aren't, to my knowledge, a solid billet option.
I mean, except speedymoto, which is kind of 'obstructed', yet open. Can't see the pulleys very well, but can see the belts and rollers (which, I might note, have been reported to be somewhat rust prone in seaside environments, but I have no fhe there). Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: mattyg on September 17, 2009, 08:15:42 PM The PO of my M900 dremeled slots in the covers and it looks pretty checp. Maybe I should just get new stock covers. . .
Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: junior varsity on September 18, 2009, 03:01:54 AM That's like the cheapest. Be on the look out for different styles: There's ones that are multiple piece horizontal covers, and solid horizontal. You might be able to find used stock covers for pretty cheap in the classifieds and on eBay.
Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: Goat_Herder on September 19, 2009, 08:04:41 AM Is there an option that's not see thru? How about just spray paint some black BBQ paint on it. Works for me. Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: M900 on September 19, 2009, 11:03:28 AM the best covers are the ones left behind in your parts bin. Run without!
Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: mattyg on September 22, 2009, 08:11:08 AM I decided to just get replacement stock bits in the end. I might paint them at some point but it's not a priority. Who knows what the PO was thinking when s/he took a dremel to the covers. They were pretty ugly looking slots!

Run without! +1 Go Naked. It's great to be able to see the moving parts Title: Re: Timing belt covers for a '96 M900 Post by: mattyg on September 29, 2009, 06:25:26 AM Now I'm considering CF covers. . .
