Title: News Regarding Rizoma Rearsets for DSS Monsters Post by: junior varsity on September 19, 2009, 01:58:56 PM Good News that is.
I had sold my AG Hammer rearsets to a friend and needed to get some new ones. All the material regarding Rizoma Rearsets part PE201B* states that the applicable years are 2000+ M900, and the rest of the available models. Well, just what makes a 1999 (and possibly older) Monsters different? The factory rearsets appear to all be interchangeable all the way up to the 695. So what gives? Further questions had me wondering... The rearsets that only mount to the frame tabs and 'hang' are available for all years. (Examples: DP, AG Hammer, Sato). This was helpful because it narrowed down my research to the lower mount and the case to which it mounts on. I had no way of determining if the oil pan was "narrower" or wider on newer models, but that was a risk I was going to have to take. What I did notice was a change in sidestands. The newer bikes do not mount to both the rearsets lower mount holes. It uses a diagonal hole, which had been unused on my model bike. That appeared to be the only change I could notice regarding the lower items. Well, I had upgraded to the newer style sidestand bracket in order to enjoy the benefits of a longer CycleCat Sidestand/kickstand so mine was now 'current' with the newer models. At this point I decided to "chance" it and ordered a set. Except I ordered a set in August and that meant a long wait since it was coming from Italy. Came in on Friday, and bolted straight up, with no issues. I have noted that the Rizoma Rearsets are considerably wider than the AG Hammer rearsets (they 'bulge' outwards where the pegs are mounted). And, with a substitute bolt, the shift linkage was removed and there was no long run of threads sticking out the backside of the rearset to give me away. Pictures soon to follow. I have sent emails to Desmoworks and PJ's Parts letting them know that they will work, and they may choose to update their site accordingly. I may get a little nuts and even send one off to Rizoma themselves. (Also, if you didn't know, the 'B' designation denotes black in color, I think if you live in Italy, you may have more options, especially with things like the reverse shifter, which is also pictured in Gold, but only available in black. But I digress). Title: Re: News Regarding Rizoma Rearsets for DSS Monsters Post by: junior varsity on September 20, 2009, 12:01:30 PM Pics, as promised:
