Title: Anyone tried a hypermotard tail light on a monster?
Post by: pchilds25 on September 19, 2009, 05:08:42 PM
I like the look of the hypermotard tail light (though I wish it had integrated turn signals). It looks like it might screw in without any modification. Just wondering if anyone has tried this.

Haven't heard so, people have used 848/1098/1198 tail lights

1) The HM taillight is a slight bit larger than the 696/1100 assembly -- so you might try the latter as it might integrate better.

2) Hypermotard and integrated signals?  (and 696/1100 monster) Both are on the "to do" list for Vizi-Tec / MotoCreations in the next few months.  Given the factory assembly is sealed to protect the LED's, we are having to recreate the entire assembly. Perk of this?  The turn signal integration will be enhanced even more! (plus a few other cool additions)

Oh yes. Can't wait to get my hands on this. Our plan is to recycle the electronics(current driver from the new SupaNova-HSi) to drive these. New LED board of course and as Mark said other cool features and design enhancements will be added.

Finally tried it. I chopped up a hypermotard tail, flipped it over, shoved some old Clear Alternatives LEDS into it. What do you think?

Clear Alternatives? People still waste their time with those?
It's good to try new things, but that tail is fail.

From above, very nice.
From behind, ~ ok.
From the side, ....., a lot of negative space there.

What he said. Maybe fab up something in there for turn signals to cover up that gap?

No, I don't see.

The tailchop looks fine.

What doesn't look fine, and what I think he was asking about, is the damage to the paint on and around the grab handles.

I'm guessing it's one of two things:

1) saddle bag mounting scratched off the paint

or

2) he scared the crap out of a female passenger whose nails scratched the crap out of it!!  [cheeky]

FWIW the 1098 tail light looks much better on a Monster.
