Title: Bike won't start, could it be the fuel pump?
Post by: fivetwo on September 21, 2009, 05:06:44 AM
Bike has been running fine all summer but this weekend it wouldn't start.  It has a new battery so it turns over fine.  I noticed that after I turn the key, the gauges do the usual sweep but I don't hear the normal hissing sound right afterwards. (gas tank is full)  It's an 05 S2R800, could it be the fuel pump already?

Put your ear against the tank, and turn the key on.
You should hear the fuel pump cycle on and then turn off.

If the fuel pump isn't going on, check the fuse, and check to make sure the electrical connector is fully plugged in.

The fuses are fine.  I'll try listening for the pump tonite.
