Title: OT- Linux geeks, I need your help!
Post by: duckwrench13 on May 23, 2008, 05:45:21 PM
I'm running a 2007 Acer Aspire 5100 laptop, converted over to Ubuntu/Mint.

How can I get the VGA out to run correctly on my LCD tv? Got the VGA to VGA cable today, but can't seem to get the screen to toggle. The tv shows a "no signal" icon.

Speedvision's coverage MotoGP sucks, so I'm trying to get this all sorted so I can run the live feed from the web.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. [thumbsup]

I emailed this thread to someone in the know. Perhaps she'll offer some advice.

I don't think it's a Linux thing. There should be a Fn+F key toggle to change the output an that is BIOS based. for example, in the case of my Dell, I plug into the VGA or HDMI out and hit Fn+F8 to toggle between CRT/LCD output options.

Could be an issue with the video resolution....I'm no expert on *that*.  Have you tried rebooting it while it's connected to the tv?  I've found that helps sometimes with projectors.  Have you asked on the Ubuntu forums?

Could be an issue with the video resolution....

that (or video timings) would be my guess IF the display shows up in the monitor selection utility.

i'd be curious to see the xorg.conf file.
