Title: APTC how it works
Post by: caperix on September 27, 2009, 12:56:44 PM
There have been alot of questions about the APTC clutch used on many new ducati models latley.  I had one sitting unused in my garage so I took a few pics to clear up some issues on its operation.

The "slipper" part of the clutch is all contained in the clutch hub.

In the rest position the 2 parts of the hub are separated by spring pressure allowing the clutch to slip.

The hilical cuts in the hub over come the spring pressure pull the 2 halfs together when power is applied.  This is when the clutch is fully disengaged.

I do not know of any one that tunes the slip characteristics of this clutch but I think the main area to look at would be these 3 springs under the pressure plate

I hope this helps explain the clutch better.
