Title: Del Amo Fail
Post by: erkishhorde on September 28, 2009, 05:59:14 AM
Anybody else make their way to the Del Amo parking lot sale? I dragged my ass out there at a stupidly early hour and was totally disappointed. I talked to one of the employees while he was getting coffee at Vons before the event and he said they spent over $20k buying new merchandise for the blowout sale. With a statement like that I had high hopes that I'd find a jacket my size. Sadly, no. I know I'm a pretty small size (36/46). Nope, nothing in the entire place. Even better, the alotted parking from the advertisement was $10. People come to this event to save money, not blow $10 on parking.

Oh, and then to top it off I went to the parts section to ask if they had FCR carbs for the monster. The guy looked at me like I was an idiot and said, "Carbs? We don't sell stuff like that here!" I just laughed and walked away. I dunno, what do you guys think? I hear it's a relatively common mod for the carbie monsters and I could understand if they don't stock them but not selling them at all seems a bit extreme. Maybe I'm just butt hurt since my old bike is getting left out. I know Spectrum sells them but I don't know if they keep them in stock.

**derby**

Do a search on Del Amo before you rip them a new one, man!

That's been done PLENTY of times... [coffee]

I'm sure Ca-Cycleworks could hook you up with FCRs.  ;)

I got weak and let advertisements of 50% off stuff tempt me.  :(

you're unemployed.. even at 50% off, you can't afford it.   [cheeky]

i think expecting a dealer to stock hop-up parts for a 15 year old bike is pretty unreasonable.

Looked, didn't see anything in a style I liked so didn't see if they had my size.

I agree, stocking upgrades for a 15 yo bike isn't all that reasonable. But not selling them at all seems a bit unreasonable to me. I think keeping stock parts for a 15yo bike in stock isn't really reasonable either so I don't complain a whole lot when I get long down times.

edit: Oh yeah, I believe they still had a carbie monster in 2000 that could use the same FCR carbs mine can. In that case it's only a 10 yo bike  :P

they aren't a tuner shop dude.  it's a churn-and-burn retail shop... and the worst of those, to boot.  they don't sell them at all meaning, that's not the business they're in.  the random goofball at the parts counter probably wouldn't even know where to look for them.

+1 Chris Kelly knows his stuff and has everything you could want for your Monster.

Sachica orderd a couple of screws that came loose on the 848. 3 months and counting and they still haven't gotten them. I have a better chance of finding the right part from the hardware store. Of course they were more than happy to charge the 12 bucks (for three screws) in advance since they had to order them and all  [roll]

Pro Italia got the same parts in 2 weeks.

gm22 congrats on the little tykes  [thumbsup]

Del Amo blows!  [coffee]

Great shop to window shop.  I think I bought a pre-drilled oil plug there recently and would never buy anything of any greater value there.  I would sooner have a blind one armed chip wrench on my bike then deal with the ass clown shop manager.

Haven't we gone down this path a time or twenty already! [laugh]

Parking lot sales are usually free to attend. WTF
I went in there once when I was ready to buy a bike.
Didn't get the deal I needed so I went elsewere.
I want the banner off their wall with my bike.
