Title: Carbon Termi 696
Post by: yang258 on September 28, 2009, 03:56:57 PM
Hi guys,

Just tossing up whether or not to get the Termis for my 696.

Will I get a decent up in power? And is it much louder than stock?

Thanks

I don't have a 696, but have heard them stock and with termi's and termi's might give some hp increase, but the sound is  [bow_down].  My current monster is a 2004 s4r with termi's and sounds awesome. Ride safe dude.

there's some increase.  it's most noticeable around 4k rpm, which the stock chip has a pretty heavy dip in power so that the bike will pass EURO3 emissions.  I run my 696 mostly in that range when not on the highway.  I've seen stock Dyno charts showing rear wheel HP at 67.  I've yet to dyno mine, nor have I seen a info on anyone else's.  That's on my To Do list, one of these days.  As far as sound, with baffles in, the Carbon Termi's are only marginally better.  With them out,  [evil].  I set off a car alarm in a Target parking lot last friday while meeting friends for lunch.  My kids say they can hear me coming for a ways off & I live on a fairly wooded road.

I just put them on my 696 last week and am in love.  They sound awesome.  Nice low guttorial roar.  Not sure about the increase of HP but it feels like there is more power and it does make engine braking much smoother.  With the stock cans I would let off the throttle and it would feel like an abrupt braking in the engine but much smoother with the Termis.

The exhaust helps decrease the back pressure at higher RPM's. The stock exhaust tends to bog up over 5-6k rpms. Put on a Termi or some other exhaust and you'll love it at higher RPM's. It feels way better. I have the Carbon Termi's and I love them. As for HP/Torque you get more but not a huge amount.

For sound it's slightly louder than stock at idle and low RPM's. It has a great sound to it.  At higher RPM's it's louder. At WOT, It's LOUD  [evil] without being annoying. If you leave the Db's killers in there they are basically as loud as stock wit a better sound.

I own a 696 and it's had the CF Termis since Day-One, so I can't really give much input as to an increase.  I did get her on a dyno, and it came in right around 67HP.  Not exactly what I was looking for, maybe it was the dyno, as I've heard they can vary quite a lot.

HOWEVER! If you're looking for sound, pull the trigger.  I've ridden the 1100 with standard exhaust, and it's night and day, even with the bigger power plant.

I'll try to find my dyno print out and scan it/post it up for you all to see.
