Hello, I am working on an 02 s4 and it was bought with the gauges missing. Since then have bought some used gauges, but of course they do not match the system. The bike will not start with the stock ignition, red key(or black), and the stock ecu. I have been told that it will not start with gauges that do not match the system, and that I need to get the stock ecu de-immobilized. I sent the ecu to silverback and they are telling me that the 59m cannot be deimmobilized. Now my question is this, I can get a brand new factory ecu made for the tergimoni exhaust and a free flowing air filter(# 96508702B Centralina X KIT PLUS S4/02 CPU for KIT PLUS S4/02- this is what the stickers say on the new ecu). Now my question is this-will this cpu cure all my problems with this bike-is it not coded to the immoboilizer on the bike and the gauges and ignition switch? Is it a direct bolt on-plug and play? Any other questions I should ask(either forgot or too ignorant to know what to ask...probably the latter). Thanks in advance...
Yes on the virgin ECU working with your gauge assuming your gauge is working fine.
No on plug and play. You will need to do a TPS reset which a dealer can do for you or if you have one of the specialized tools. The name of it escapes me right now, but it starts with a "V" I believe
TPS rest? That is the first I have heard of this...You cannot just open the throttle fully so the computer gets that reading and then let off so it can see the other end of the spectrum??
Nope. You have to tell the ECU you are doing a reset.
S4 ECU is old style, does not need a TPS reset.
