I need to replace my timing belts on my 96 M900. I saw that Ca-cycleworks has some for $29 each. They are Bucci brand P/N 403-1061. They have red writting on the belt (GIO.CA.MOTO) and say "Racing Belt".
Has anybody bought these before? Should I go with these or s there another brand supplier I should go through?
I read where they are some belts with white writing (old) and newer red writing which are stronger.
Any advise would be appreciated. I live in Huntington Beach, CA.
Thanks,
I have Bucci belts on mine. It's my first set
I know Dan has them on his, and has for a while now.
I wouldn't hesitate to use them.
The old OEM belts had white writing. My bike had those as OEM. Those lasted 4 years.
The newer red lettered OEM belts are the Kevlar belts I believe.
I've used the Bucci belts from Chris since day one on my 97.
No quality or perfomance issues yet. [thumbsup]
I don't think I've ever bought an OEM belt, the Bucci's are fine. I'd be surprised if you could still find an old, white lettered belt anywhere but used on Ebay. The red kevlar belts have been out since maybe '00
I've seen conjecture on other forums that the Bucci belts are actually made for Bucci by Gates. If that's the case I'd use them, but...there may be a reason, other then lower markup, for the price difference. Until I knew who and where they're made, I won't use them. Not to be disrespectful to any forum sponsors who sell them, just my personal opinion.
I've neither read nor heard a single issue or complaint about those belts.

I haven't either. But still, the percentage of Bucci belts out there is relatively small compared to the Gates belts. I don't mean to be unfairly criticizing them - I'm just stating my personal opinion that I would want to know more about them before using them. I'm definitely not saying that there is any kind of known problem with them.
Thanks for replies.
I couldn't find any other place on the web that had belts.
Just wanted a warm IZ_ about them.
Thanks again. [thumbsup]
