Title: Engine immobilized... Post by: sea bass on May 24, 2008, 02:29:50 PM I bought a used ducati a while ago and today it seems the bike won't start, apparently from the engine immobilizer.
I didn't get the code card when I got the bike. I tried all 3 keys, same thing. The security light blinks twice then stays solid. What can I do? Title: Re: Engine immobilized... Post by: sea bass on May 24, 2008, 02:32:53 PM Also the service dept said the wire must be loose then. I can't find the wire, everything looks tight.
Title: Re: Engine immobilized... Post by: Speeddog on May 24, 2008, 02:38:01 PM Possibly the antenna for the immobilizer has come loose inside the plastic key surround.
Or it's unplugged. Or it's broken. Title: Re: Engine immobilized... Post by: sea bass on May 24, 2008, 02:44:29 PM Is it easy to check? I'm back at home and my bike is a few miles away. What do I need to check?
Title: Re: Engine immobilized... Post by: Speeddog on May 24, 2008, 02:51:21 PM It takes a 10mm socket to remove the nuts that hold the key surround on.
I'd say a 6" extension and ratchet along with the socket. Title: Re: Engine immobilized... Post by: sea bass on May 24, 2008, 03:37:20 PM Thanks, will open it tomorrow.
Is there any way to get the code card information? The seller did not give it to me. Also is there a diagram showing which is the antenna? And if the antenna is connected, the red key definitely should turn it over right? Title: Re: Engine immobilized... Post by: sea bass on May 25, 2008, 08:44:40 AM any tips on getting the code? Is it possible to read it off the red key? the seller just ignored me when I asked for it. >:(
