Accidents happen, but stupidity does contribute.

Back in high school a co-worker at the small engine shop where I was working managed to cut off the tip of his middle finger with a lawn mower that wouldn't even run.  It had a plugged up carb and would only run if you pushed the primer button repeatedly.  He was sitting on the ground (1st dumb thing) next to it pushing the button (#2) and decided that it was too far away (#3).  Reached underneath to pull it close and got a few weeks off from work.

Any other stories of extreme stupidity out there???  Just curious.

Friend of a friend of a friend lost a finger with a band saw. He was showing someone exactly how it happened and lost another one... [bow_down]

yep.

Guy I worked with, stuck his finger into the timing hole on a running engine. he knew it was running, just stuck his finger right in there and zapped the tip off. It was really gross, came out like a long line of bloody string cheese and the bone at the end.  [puke]

 [bang]

Same guy, about a month after the finger healed.

he went to install a exhaust gasket, but the holes for the studs were too small and it wouldn't fit. so, he decides the best thing to do is drill the holes bigger. Mind you, this is a steel gasket.. Most people would have put the gasket in a vise to drill the holes out. No, this dude decided he can hold the gasket and drill the holes out.

well, the drill bit caught the gasket, twisted it around not only slicing his fingers to shreds, but also pulling the drill bit into his nuckles grinding all the skin off...

make the beast with two backsing bloody mess that was. I had go grab cutters and cut his hand free from the gasket and drill bit, while the guy is in a total panic... make the beast with two backsing A that was nasty.

I also saw a guy smash himself between a car door and a wall, Its kind of complicated story.. that was actually, REALLY disturbing , as in, unpiled everything from car to see the dude's eyes rolling around in his head, unconscious, and not breathing. but no blood  :o

Several places I've worked had a rule that if you were involved in 3 accidents at work in a 12 month period, you had to go for a drug screening. I didn't quite understand the rule until I saw this thread.
