Title: CTP green slip's and insurance
Post by: FIFO on October 06, 2009, 12:18:02 AM

Just received my ctp green slip renewal from QBE $561 WTF :o

For my 03 sie 1000 monsters.

Didn't make any difference what insurance i had 3pty or full comp
no discount.

Before bending over and taking it like a man.

Better go through the mindless tasks of getting quotes.
Matty suggested, GIO they have come up top so far $389.83
if you have full comprehensive insurance, doesn't matter what company you are with either, They will give you a discount
So i will upgrade my insurance with Insure my-ride from 3rd party to full comp for $444  with a $750 excess for the market value of $11500.

As i am over half a century and the post code effects all this [laugh]
Ctp green slips may vary a lot in other states compared to NSW(the land of the free)

Is there anything better going other than not paying the rego at all [laugh]

Rob, this is the easiest way to find the right green slip:

http://prices.maa.nsw.gov.au/index.html (http://prices.maa.nsw.gov.au/index.html)

But comprehensive you are on your own. For a lower price you are better off with a less desirable bike, lower power figures, smaller engine, market value (not agreed), no mods and a sex change ... but you can keep your old age (for now).

Some companies offer discounts if you are a member of a recognised club, travel low kilometres  p.a. and/or only have one declared (read insured) rider. Much of it has been debated on here before.

Good link.

Sure there are many variables that affect insurance.

It appears buy the response no one is going to confess on the DMF
what it cost them to keep their little precious on the road. [roll]

Allmost as taboo as admitting what we have spent on Bling.

Just a suggestion, I joined Netrider, and that gave me a good discount through QBE as it classed a Bike Club, I think the discount was about 10%

The Forum is a bit of a box of Suck, but to save 10%, it was worth the $5 or so to join.

thanks for the motivation Rob [bow_down]

I don't think it is that so much, it's just that the variables make premiums incomparable ... for the reasons I mentioned earlier. I don't have the figures with me but from memory Jukie's premium is hundreds of dollars cheaper than mine.

I think people have posted up their preimums in the past but with the most recent vox pop indicating many were insured with W/QBE we would only be arguing over these 'variables' beyond that you are debating variables in policy.

Bling coverage is a big question mark. Many insurers will only increase the replacement value a certain amount (if you have agreed value). They may list blingy bits on the policy document but it does not necessarily increase your insured amount or premium.

I too, do the ring around to get the best (greenslip) deal and now I've found an easier way, I go to an insurance broker, actually I use the one in Narellen shopping mall which right next door to the RTA plus us old folk get an added bonus the pretty young sheila has big tits, gives the optic nerve a work out :o and every time they have the best prices for greenslips even after my ring-around price.

What's it cost to use a broker Mick? Or do they get paid by the insurance co's they use?

Do you guys know which insurer is the cheapest for full comprehensive? Is it insuremyride.com.au?

All depends on your situation but I doubt it would be who you are referring. Ring around or go to a broker. I found QBE the cheapest.

So far for full comp http://www.insuremyride.com.au/default.asp (http://www.insuremyride.com.au/default.asp)
has given me the best quote so far.
and talking to the sales guys at the other  insurance companys
they can't compete with them.
So easy to do an online quote.
I will try a broker next suggested by Monster Mick.

Yeah insuremyride.com.au is the cheapest but the QBE website mentions that they will beat any quote! Will give them a call see what they can beat it by....

I use insuremyride for full comprehensive. They were the cheapest for me.

I just got my CTP today - $496 and Rego $106.
I got quoted today by GIO for CTP $381. I'll ring around on Monday for some more quotes...

I found Insuremyride was the most expensive when I did the run around for insurance, I pretty much rang or got online quotes from all of them, and in this particular case QBE was the cheapest.

But when my renewal comes up in a month or so, I'll do the run around again.  [bang]

Same here QBE best $ for me on comp.
must be a post code thing as I would suspect most Monster/Ducati owners would have there
bike garaged and have a low crash count maybe speeding or other related issues like claims
would influence, I found insure my ride quite expensive.
Baffled  ???

I found http://www.ebikeinsurance.com.au (http://www.ebikeinsurance.com.au) to be the cheapest when I did the deal last April.

Just did CTP and yep GIO was the go (as they were for my car CTP and comp insurance as well).

Good luck  [thumbsup]

I used a broker for the greenslip insurance ( after using the greenslip calculator ) but for me I did full comp with 'Insure My Ride' again after doing the normal ring around. Hope this helps.
