Title: Battery Removal
Post by: NoisyDante on October 07, 2009, 03:39:59 PM
Did a search but didn't find anything.

Seems I've drained my battery, and before I replace it I'm going to bring it to a shop to see if it still has some life in it.  Either way I'll need to remove and install a battery, however I can't find a good description of how to safely do this.  I have a 2007 Monster 695.  Could someone please give me a step by step on this process?

Disconnect negative first, connect negative last to avoid sparks and shorts.

Certainly good to know.  Do I need to remove the tank to gain access to the battery?

Why not just charge your battery  - if it's completely dead the trickle type chargers won't work as they need a min 11volts to turn on the charge cycle. But there's probably nothing wrong with your battery.

No.

Remove the seat.
Undo the bail at the front of the tank.
Hinge the tank up, and have a helper hold it.
Unhook the rubber strap.
Disconnect the cables as howie said.
