Title: Lost my rego plate yesterday! Post by: Dannog on October 07, 2009, 09:38:52 PM Riding to work yesterday and felt the bike jitter for a second. When I pulled over i saw that the rear bracket that holds the rego plate and lamp was missing. It was held on by 2 ferrels which were bonded into the carbon bear tray.
By the time I walked back to pick it up it'd been run over a couple of times and pretty much stuffed. Thinking that I'll replace it with a aluminum fender eliminator which bolts to the same mounts as the bear tray in lieu of relying on the ferrels in the carbon. I now riding around with the number plate attached to the rear frame with cable ties and no light! hopefully the boy in [leo] won't take a disliking to the temporary arrangement. Title: Re: Lost my rego plate yesterday! Post by: Dannog on October 07, 2009, 10:07:47 PM Fortunately managed to get around yesterday without getting caught by [leo]. Hope I will be able to talk my way around a ticket if they don't like the temporary arrangement.
Title: Re: Lost my rego plate yesterday! Post by: dragonworld. on October 07, 2009, 10:09:35 PM In VIC if you want a standard issue replacement plate, it'll cost you $27.80.
If its a custom jobbie that'll be $75. Title: Re: Lost my rego plate yesterday! Post by: mattyvas on October 07, 2009, 11:34:24 PM Well that's a bugger, particularly that it came from me/Vince.
Hope you can get it fixed quickly. And yeah where you been huh ??? Title: Re: Lost my rego plate yesterday! Post by: Betty on October 07, 2009, 11:43:57 PM In VIC if you want a standard issue replacement plate, it'll cost you $27.80. If its a custom jobbie that'll be $75. Bloody whingin' Victorians! http://www.myplates.com.au/design_a_plate/prices.html#design (http://www.myplates.com.au/design_a_plate/prices.html#design) Danno, I lost one recently too ... but it was just the plate that came off from the aluminium fender plate. Luckily I had my automatic plate retriever with me ... she had gone and picked it up before I even realised I had lost it. Title: Re: Lost my rego plate yesterday! Post by: Dannog on October 08, 2009, 01:24:42 PM The plate is only a standard one but its a bit worse for wear. i'll need to get a new one and I've been thinking of getting a black & white custom jobbie. Now just need to come up with the lettering.
Well that's a bugger, particularly that it came from me/Vince. Bloody second hand parts!......... you can't even trust your friends ;) ;)Title: Re: Lost my rego plate yesterday! Post by: mattyvas on October 08, 2009, 01:35:16 PM You can trust 2nd hand car sales men!

Title: Re: Lost my rego plate yesterday! Post by: Dannog on October 11, 2009, 08:03:07 PM I'm sure all the good options are taken.
Are here any rules on how these things are done? Title: Re: Lost my rego plate yesterday! Post by: Betty on October 11, 2009, 09:29:15 PM Do you mean in terms of what is available?
Keep in mind that a custom plate will take, I think, a couple of weeks before it is available. You can also test what options/content is available online: http://www.myplates.com.au/design_a_plate/design.html#design (http://www.myplates.com.au/design_a_plate/design.html#design) Title: Re: Lost my rego plate yesterday! Heh, a country bloke with a bushie sense of humour, who had the longest running new type Royal Enfield in Oz, until it too shit itself and stuffed the top end. Apparently around 10,000ks is all they last. He thought up some good names for that too. [evil] [roll] [laugh] Title: Re: Lost my rego plate yesterday!
