I'm using a aftermarket harley throttle setup on my vs800. I've tried looking all over for adaptors, etc. Harley shops are zero help, last one I went too wouldn't even speak with me after I explained what I wanted to do....just pointed to the door.
Here is a picture to help explain. I've probably screwed up bad because I cut the end off the cable to remove the end.

The elbow is off the metric cable. My only idea was to remove the nut/adaptor off the elbow (I can now that I cut the end off the cable) grind down the end of the elbow so it fits inside the throttle assembly, and then TIG weld it to the assembly.
There has got to be a better way. Can I even put an end on my throttle cable now that I've cut it off?
Try these guys:

Yeah...called them first. They basically said go find an old harley part and call us back. Didn't really explain what it was I was looking for, and it really seemed like they were just being bothered by my phone call. [roll] Just like always, if you want it done, you've got to figure it out yourself. "take it to a harley shop" was the other suggestion....LOL
I think I fixed it. I ground off the remaining nub on the end of the elbow. Now, it drops through the throttle housing without a problem. I can TIG it in place. Probably not the best solution, but no one really wants to help with an adaptor at any of these places, and I don't know exactly what I need (or the terminology to ask)

click on metric fittings for some terminology.
looking at this it appears that the cables ship with that elbow...

This may be a long shot but have you tried any really nice bicycle shops? If they're really decent they probably have or know an awesome welder who could braze and/or make you a new fitting for that.
I'm pretty sure Theo can weld.
He seemed uneasy about welding it, I wasn't suggesting he couldn't Tig it himself only that perhaps he wanted it nicer than he thought he could produce. Buuut what do I know ;)
Also, seeing as you've got a lathe perhaps you can simple machine a threaded reducer to simply bolt the two together? if you hadn't already cut it anyways...

I took it more as he didn't want a welded assy as opposed to he didn't want to weld it.
I'm not quite sure now. [laugh]

Hah, well now we have to know, so which is it Theo? ;D
Hell I'm not sure. At first I thought I'd just weld the thing up and put an end on the cable. Now I'm wondering if I ought ot have a custom cable made up so it can be replaceable in the future if need be.
Then again, it would have to be custom made again, so I guess it doesn't matter. I just need to see if I can attach a cable end to what I've got an be done with it.
Found the super easy formula:
Box up stock cable
Box up aftermarket throttle assembly
Send to motion pro with a $35 check
Get back working parts in 5-7 days
Done [thumbsup]
That is a plan with merit. ;D
Mmmmm ;D, good to know they offer that service.
